Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Who wants to clean the blood off of my bike? I had the choice of getting run over or running of a freshly squished squirrel, I picked the squirrel.

I did get my free bike to work day T-shirt and bottle.

It's an ugly yellow color, but still cool. I went to City Hall in Alexandria. It was packed. My first bike to work day, even though I do errrry day.

Hey Pcad,

How many Pcad HTFU Points™ do I get for my harrowing experience of being hit by a crazed driver?

Thanks to a powerful burst of acceleration I (almost) cleared the car's path.

So after you were 'hit by a crazed driver' what was the damage to your Gomer self and your Gomer bicycle?

Accident thread.

No damage to me (other than stress); hopefully just minimal wheel damage to bike.

Wrenching before work - probably not a good idea.
Wrenching the bike that you ride to work, before work - definitely not a good idea.
No creaky-creaky in the BB when you mash on it - worth being a little late.

I just finished reviving a nice old trek for my friend. The threaded headset installation was the worst bit, but it worked none the less. Block of wood and a hammer, after snugging it in a bit by just tightening the lock nut on the headset.

It rode nice, so we went for a short night ride. I rode his 35 pound bridgestone, and although I felt it on the hills, it was really pleasant to ride.

I left my pump in the car, which is gone for the night, and have a ride first thing in the morning. Do I ditch the ride or go and hope I don't flat? Note that I double flatted last Saturday and had to call for an evac home, so I don't think that would go over so well if I had to do it again.

Usually I don't embark on eating a plate of spaghetti after I've already started to feel full.
