Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some day, hopefully before you hit 30, you'll understand that riding in the rain is part of the deal.

I saw that coming.

But I'm afraid I can't go out there. It is raining, and I am not waterproof, you see.

Don't sweat it. I'd never go out to train in the rain. God made trainers for a reason.

I love rain riding. Well, love is a bit strong, but I do ride when it rains.

I know I don't get the whole race thing. But when you guys get hurt, do you ever wonder why you don't just ride some junk miles?

I kind of enjoy it myself, but to a point. When it starts hammering rain it's a drag. And I've come to hate racing in the raing so much that I avoid it now. TT's in the rain are fine, mass start races are a drag. But if I were good at this sport like Gary, I'd welcome the wet conditions for a number of reasons.

Riding in the rain is fun on nice quiet roads but once you start having to ride across those steel plates they place over road construction and deal with a lot of traffic not so much.

I live in Orange County NY. All we have here are nice quiet roads, shattered only by the occasional appearance of an Orange County Chopper.
