Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I see nothing weird, sinister or unusual about guys who race or ride in fast groups crashing bicycles.

It does suck, but it is rather routine. Gsteinb's nasty injuries were less common, but even those aren't unusual in this sport. You just hope they don't happen to you.

Just seems like a lot of guys in a short span of time, sure, it happens but seems kind of concentrated lately.

Painful. That looks painful.

Kind of like the chariot race scene in Ben Hur.

Anyway. Chicks dig scars.

I got road rash on my face and legs. My legs were shaven. My face was not.

This sport couldn't possibly be more effed up.

Could you be a doper? That would mess things up even more.

New bike parts coming (that's worth at least an additional 50 pages)?

Just to add to the bloody stories here, last night at my friends house my friend's bipolar GF flipped the eff out over wanting the room to herself and moving us to the fun-lacking living room. She ended up attacking him (he has a smashed foot, 4 surgeries, from mtb crash) and scratched the hell out of his face. All over a room that she wanted.

I can't do doping. I'm afraid of needles. They gave me a tetanus shot today. Even that sucked.

Universal sports. OK coverage. Lame low-def pictures. But better than nothing.

I don't know if I get that. My NBC channel is 4.. The channel finder on the universal sports site has an error.

I'm still too fat for this sport.

You should see me next to my friend Sergei (who is the guy in the red/black/white kit in the 3rd picture). He is a Cat-3 in drag (Cat-5 since it is his first season racing) and I can't keep up with him most of the time.
