He was off to work (bike messenger) and so I followed, he was faster. I also kept getting stuck at intersections. He wouldn't wait most of the time, so I had to kick my own ass to keep up.

CC has a slight higher spec. I think the B16 is about $300 more than the P1, and then the P2 is about that much more expensive than the B14. So two different price ranges of bikes, but the P1/B16 and P2/B14 comparison is close enough for my decisions, depending on how much I decide to spend.

I'm very happy with my 2007 Cannondale Six13 Slice TT bike I bought slightly used a couple of years back. Does the job. If the TT bike gets you into flat back aero position, you can really notice the increased speed on fast descents. One brand of TT bike over another isn't so different. My guess is the most aero frame available takes 20-30 seconds off a one hour TT time vs. the most non-aero TT frame; most of the TTs I do are shorter 20-40 minute races, so it's really not a big factor. The helmet, the wheels, that's the gear that makes you substantially more aero. They key is getting comfortable in a reasonably aero position and then getting used to riding the bike. I've spent more time on the TT bike this Spring than I ever have before, I'm starting to enjoy riding it, and I'm comfortable on it now. Rode it three hours hard last Saturday.

Yah, but what about the fairing that the Felts have around the rear wheel, with the rear brake down near the bottom bracket? That has to be worth at least 10 BF cool points. Pretty similar geometries between the Felts and Cervelos, close enough that you could set them up the same.
I like riding alone, I enjoy the simplicity of TTs, I like racing the stop watch. I'm starting to really like riding the TT discipline and riding that bike. And the fact that in two years I'll be racing age 55 means that I could be competitive in TTs in my age group, and that motivates me to keep active in it. The mass start racing seems increasingly pointless to me, I'm not competitive, it's somewhat dangerous, there are a few too many aholes in the sport to be sure. God help me what bunch of self impressed idiots jocks can be. A short tour of the 33 will tell you all you need to know. The 33 can go eff itself, but then again, so can the 41, and so can the entire friggin planet for all I care. Holy friggin mother of jens look at the silly get up I have to wear to ride TTs.

I wore this outfit on the road the other day (silly helmet and all), riding to and from the pointless idiot TT I did Sunday, hoping a cager would flatten me and put me out of my Mets fan misery, but it never happened.

You would be at least 0.25 seconds per 40k quicker if you ditched the watch. And another 0.25 seconds if you got shoe covers.

Actually, I'd be more competitive on the Cat 4 level, or in 45+ or 50+ races. Not enough of the latter and the Cat 4 races are really too dicey for me, I've avoided them since I turned 35. But the 35+ is really more like Cat 2/3. That's over my head, more like a bad spin class. Got 11th in a race last year, my best showing in 35+. Forget it. I've been a Cat 4 for life mainly because I never wanted to expose myself to enough Cat 4 mayhem to rack up the points to upgrade to 3. But that would be pointless anyway, since it would take me top 10 finishes and/or a ton of races, and I really don't want a broken collarbone. As a 4 you can race with the Masters.

All I want out of cycling is sanity and skinniness.
One out of two ain't bad.

All this TT bike aero this and that stuff is marketing hooey anyway. Like all the other high end bike crap hype.
But I like it.

i'm going to bring this train wreck of a thread back on track.
Hey pcad
I've speced out a bike with some spare components I have lying around and would basically just be buying groupset 6700, wheels and frame. It comes to about £1,600. If I buy the complete bike I can get it for a range in 2k to 2.5k. which would you go for?
Secondly, how sick am I to get another bike just because I have a spare seatpost?

Hey PCAD. Thanks for the comment on facebook. I thought you knew what caused babies. Maybe I'll explain it sometime. I've been off BF for about a week. It's like crack. Just fall right back into posting worthless dribble.
