Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trust me, Pcad was sick; it was sweet when he was hacking right next to me before I banged out 95 miles.

It rained and was a bit cold but that Reese's Nutrageous bar I had on the way home so did it...

The best part of today's race was watching the Cat-5's get neutralized by the Cat-1's and hearing some of the Cat-1's talk smack as they passed by

I will be scheduling the third extraction of a tooth in 2010 tomorrow AM. All failed root canals. Oh well. Time to start the implant process soon.

That will mean zero riding until at least Thursday to avoid the condition I had last time. That's called dry socket. Can't go there again. Hey, maybe the rest isn't the worst thing that could happen.

It's going to be a rough night for Uncle Pcad weenies. I don't expect to get much sleep. I just took my last pain pill and it's not working.

Don't think you should do the extraction if you are sick.

You don't understand. This is not an elective procedure. This is a dental crisis. Out it goes.

Man it's friggin HAMMERING rain out there again tonight. But the bikes are in the barn, cleaned up and the Zipp tubie is repaired and race-able. All systems are go, but now I don't think I can ride much this week.

Oh well. They're fun to look at.

I like riding in the rain. I'll be off the bike so my mouth can heal after tomorrow's extraction. You can't ride for 72+ hours after an extraction. I learned that the hard way.

First Cavendish has dental issues and then PCad - must be the Scott shaking all of your teeth loose.

Sudafed and Advil after the race? Doping, you're doing it wrong.

If you have the right blow, you don't need Tylenol kid.

Bad day on the bike today, but at least I was out there. Rough week. And this coming week will be rougher still.

Health issues. On the other hand, I've had Big health issues, and in comparison, this stuff is nothing. I was off my bike for five years. From that rather valuable perspective, getting shelled halfway through some NYC race is a rather joyful experience.

Perspective boys. It's all about your vantage point. Which is the Big Picture about L. Armstrong that so many of his detractors fail to grasp. Sad for them, meaningless in the broader scheme.

This is why I'm not understanding the "what you dislike about cycling?" thread. Man it's great to be have the choice to ride.

By the way pcad at least you've got free health care now. Your teeth can be as good as us Brits...

11AM. Oral surgeon. Third extraction this year. Hell, I'm running out of teeth.

I may have to move to TN and hang with Gomer. Oh well. Soon I will become intimately familiar with the nightmarish world of dental implants. The way things are going in this economy I feel blessed to even have friggin access to competent dental care at all.

I'm so humble and down to earth sometimes it's scary. And half the weenies here hate me. I mean, go figure.

By the way, gsteinb (who finds it somewhat harder to completely ignore me in the real world) confessed to me that after his recent pro bike fit he may well have more spacers in his stem stack soon than yours truly. I'm hoping that will give botto a stroke.

if its comforting at all my MIL just had her first set of dental implants (shes around 60) and apparently the process was super smooth, from extraction to completion. she was over my house last night chewing on almonds, no problem. they dont ALL go bad...
