Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think it's fairly obvious those are cables that go to the electric motor hidden in pcad's seattube...not that it helped him much.

Hey pCad, why do racing roadies not smile? I see pictures on here of them, they always looked pissed, even when not on their bikes. What's with that?

I think that's why Gomer is destined to fail. He can't help but smile.

Hey kimco, next time make sure there are no girls in the picture. Hey, at least she's behind me. Combined 35+ and women's race. Some of those broads were faster than me. There's a shock.

Well clearly the added bottle didn't help your performance at all.

Their tolerance for the non-Road Nazi crowd (i.e. 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999+ % of humanity) is minimal. It's a problem.

At least I showed up and raced Fredly. Not for nothing, but if you race, you're going to get shelled. Felt much better on Nyack today, rode near front for the 30 mile stretch my pal and I Don, when I turned around as we peeled off, I was rather amazed at the size of the peloton behind me, had to be 80+ guys.

They won't shell me in PP the next time. Eff that action. Pcad will be ready.

I was just joking with you pcad, calm your fredly self down. I didn't race because I had prom, but I normally do race on the weekends, and I normally do get shelled...

Oh, I just figured that both pucker muscles were controlled by the same part of the brain.

I'm still working on what the problem is as you point out. Do we need a better ratio or more tolerance?

I'm starting to realize that I will never go as hard in training as I do in races or rides like Nyack. It's never gonna happen. I don't know why. I go as hard as I can in training. But when I'm trying to hold the wheel or I'm on a fast ride or race my HR is consistently higher. Got a great workout yesterday and today in PP and on Nyack. Nyack was odd today. 28+ mph going south, it was so fast, I'm thinking 'if they keep going this hard it will be like yesterday and it could be a problem'. But then we turned around to go north, and even though there was a 3-4 man break, nobody seemed motivated to chase. I know because I was up in front trying to get something going, and I'm certainly not one of the stronger guys on that ride. Go figure. But that ride felt relatively easy for me today, which was a good sign, hopefully I'm getting fitter. Wasn't a hard Nyack, but if I'm up front feeling comfortable, it's encouraging.

I think that means it's time for the Tuesday night Worlds on a regular basis.

I don't train with HRM or power, but based on PE, I experience the same thing. I dig wayy deeper in races, which is one of the reasons why for me, I still believe that racing is the best training. Nothing beats that zen state you reach when the only thing on your mind is holding onto the wheel in front. It's like nothing else matters, just watch the wheel and don't let it slip away.

I'm sure there are plenty of racers who push themselves very hard in training, and I try, but I do better when I'm riding with guys faster than me.

Which is anybody with a racing license who's not a Cat 5, and even some of them.

I think it just proves that you are faster without your iPod.

What actually worked for me was to just eat better. And drink more water.

Pick up your game pcad.
Helmet totally matches. Elbows are always locked right before I detonate. Cable routing is fine. What's wrong with 404 clinchers?

I don't know 254's name but she is always racing--she's in some pictures I took from the Spring Series back in March; she changed her frame from some green, blue, orange monstrosity to that CAAD9.

Also, I must admit, I got dropped badly on the way to Nyack during the winter by some of those Comedy Central women. But then again, I get dropped badly all the time so it really doesn't matter...
