Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I haven't read any Sram vs. Shimano posts on here lately from those who posted such in the first half of this thread.

I guess Pcad's method of madness works - overwhelm your opposition with massive, endless postings. Shlock and aw. As in, "Aw damn, I can't compete with this crap."

I'll always have a soft spot for Campy because it was my first gruppo and liked the thumb shifter as well as the shifter ergonomics. Comparatively speaking I prefer SRAM because there's a crispness to it I like, not to mention the double tap system which has been easy to use and eliminates the need for a thumb shifter.

You're missing all of the double tap-tappy happiness.

I've heard that complaint, but I like that bottles are held firmly and never had trouble getting things in or out. My issue with the Tacx is that you have to stick the bottles in pretty straight so reinserting in large bottles from the side is a pain, particularly when you're hammering. With the rib cage, you feel a satisfying click when the bottle is all the way in. Plus, the rib cage is aesthetically more pleasing.

I've tried quite a few bottle cages, and the rib cage is by far my favorite. Having said that, I've heard many people don't like them. People seem react one way or the other to them.

As I pedaled down the road last summer and my new chain fell off 4 miles from my house, it immediately occurred to me that the shop which had installed it, Joe Fix-Its in Goshen, NY, had to have the most ironic name in all of Velo Retail.
