Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Piazza, Glavine *cough...

Hey, if the Mets were a cycling team, maybe their name would be called RadioShack.

Yeah, he needs a quicker, more fluid release on his outside shot.

On the plus side he runs well for a big guy and supposedly is a good passer. He should be an impact player as a freshman.

Yeah there are exceptions, I meant it in a general sense so don't rain on my parade!

No, I'm agreeing with you.

Piazza and Glavine were supposed to get the Mets another World Series title but failed...

IMO, it's almost like team RadioShack (post-prime big names); maybe I'll be proven incorrect...

edit: Almost forgot about Pedro...

You tell him that your Uncle Pcad read that 'I'm a Mets fan first and a Yankees fan second' crap, spit out his coffee and uttered a string of salty epithets, and that anybody who ever uttered that in my presence would be DEAD to me. As anyone in NY would tell you.

I thought as much... if you want something that'll up your bile production even more, consider this - I once saw him cheer a player on his fantasy baseball roster when he hit a go-ahead home run against the Mets.

You want his address and likeness so you can send out the goons?

All I want is to lock myself onto our team leader's wheel near the front of that race Sunday and stay there for 90 minutes so if they need me to help chase those Axis boys down I can go to the point of the spear and put down some wattage. That's my role. Time to focus. I can suck just about any wheel if I focus hard enough. I can only help them if I'm up there.

Eff the stupid effing loser Mets. They suck.

If I wanted to waste even more time, I could dig up the posts in which Pcad publicly deliberated becoming a Yankees fan. I specifically recall because--as an SEC fan--the concept of sleeping with the enemy exploded my mind.

Then I considered how most New Yorkers probably only go to games as a social event anyway, and let it go.

See I just think that's silly. They haven't even played each other often enough in meaningful games to become serious rivals such as the Dodgers and Yankees were, or Dodgers and Giants were (in NY). They've had one World Series matchup and each year a couple meaningless regular season games. Whoopi-ding!

I just don't get the hate Mets & Yankees fans have for one another. Now as a Yankees fan I hate the Bosox, and as a Cowboys fan I hate the Redskins -- I mean vitriolic hate! But the mets? meh!

Well maybe I can see the Mets hating the Yanks' success. But there's no reason for Yankee fans to hate the Mets. They're no threat. If anything, I have pity for them.

I know you're from TN but are you capable of actually thinking before you post?

If we had to think before posting, this thread wouldn't have made it to page 2.

I've seen crowd shots of NY sporting events--a bunch of dopey celebrities and politicians all trying to be seen with Yankee hats or whatever.

"Look at me! I have no idea what is happening on the field, but I'm here!"

Hah. Like anyone would be caught wearing a Mets or Islanders hat in public.

You should go to a game before mocking the fans . Yankees, Mets, Giants Jets,Knicks Nets, etc etc pick one. [Ok maybe not the Nets right now]. Ive been doing so since the late 50s and think theyre by and large the best crowds in sports. Yes during the World Series and big playoff games the high rollers steal alot of the seats and get alot of the attention but go to a mid season Yankee or Mets game and you are going to see some real fans who know whats going on.

No offense but SEC around here means something to do with the Securities Exchange Commisssion not a bunch of nose picking 19 year old pro wannabes.

Pointing out that you don't know what you're talking about is hardly touching a nerve.
