Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ah, gotta be Park Ave's, or a local non-shop ride. I see group rides of all sizes when I'm out and about. Some look elite, some look more like me. Full Moon Vista has a presence in the city, I think they put on the major race there, but skipped the last year or so. I think they were the shop behind the Tour de NY, which was just canceled.

IMHO - TT bikes are seriously ugly. I would rather be seen on a recumbent.

Two weeks ago, an Ironman nut showed up for the ride with this. It was hot. Out of place, but hot. And he was fast. Silly aero bars.

I though aero bars were a "NO-NO" on group rides?

They are. But the dude was so excited to get on his new bike and parade it around, he got a pass. He was radiating the "I got a new bike" glow.

Looking at the back wheel, it looks like where Christopher Robin would bank.

It's right by Towpath but if you ever come and I'm there you will definitely know it's me.

I haven't done one in a while. But, based on the rides I'm doing now, we'd probably finish in the same group.

I forgot about Towpath. Don't know if I've been in it, been by it many times on the MTB before I got my road....

How much climbing did you say you did? I could do one here and have less than 1000 feet of climbing, or over 8000. First one I might finish, the second, not so likely.

Cadel cracks hard in another Tour de France. Hey, haven't we seen this movie before?

And, are we talking ride time or total?
