Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

9/11 - I was in 7?th grade in English class, Someone came in the middle of class with a TV , I was like WTF? WTF are the WTC's? then watching the news for 3 hours, followed by a early dismissal.
You said you heard about the Challenger on the news but you were in 7th grade on 9/11? That doesn't work. That would mean that you were 15 in 7th grade.

Maybe for you that does work actually.

Mind you that is if you heard it on the news when you were a new born, which doesn't make any sense.

JFK - Not born

J. Lennon - Young, wasn't aware of it

Challenger - I was home from school due to the weather. Recall that it was cold in Florida (causing the failure); it was even colder (and snowier) here. I remember first hearing about an explosion on the shuttle on the radio. I initially imagined it being a minor incident in the payload bay or something. I was wrong.

M.J. - I first got word of him going to the hospital via Twitter (a pretty good source for flash news). Later TMZ (I believe) said he was dead. Major news outlets followed an hour or so later.

Aren't you 18?
You certainly weren't alive for Lennon, or Challenger(do you mean Columbia?). If you are 18 that would make you in 4th or 5th grade for 9/11.

That sounds kind of like me, except I never have hooked up with the B group--just 1-3 stragglers along the way.

How fast does the B group go? Maybe we need to form an A- group.

Of course I didn't understand their reaction or the impact of a president being killed in that way. I just remember the adults (my parents, their friends plus an aunt or uncle) glued to the TV for several days. The funeral procession I remember clearly, and it was at that point I realized the seriousness. Probably the sight of the flag draped casket being rolled down the street in a horse drawn wagon.

As soon as that whole mishigosh was over, it was back to obsessing over cartoons. And then the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show a few months later and all was back to normal.

Even with me on it, that TT bike is pretty fast. Stupid deer. I can't ride that bike around here @ 6AM. Too dangerous. I'll have to do my TT bike days mid-day to avoid t-boning friggin Bambi.

I'm going to go for a ride on the revamped fred-mobile. Just need to stop by at work and get a bottle cage. Will it be silver, blue, or red anodized?

Yes, that is a computer on the seatpost. I don't care about ride stats on this, I just want my overall mileage.

As it sits, with fenders, rack, and U-lock, it comes in at 31 pounds.

Just so you remember I'm not always a fred:

CNBC has this countdown clock running for the announcement from the Federal Reserve.

. . . as if we're all in suspense that the Fed might raise interest rates.

Not sure how you injure hamstrings on a bicycle.
