Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just because you do it doesn't mean it's right.

It's definitely not 2, but I thought it was 3.

Shows you how long it's been since I've been out drinking that late at night.

I start earlier now days and can't last near as long.

Another 52 miles in the gorgeous warm June weather this AM. 172 lbs after the ride.

God help all of Cycling if I get down to 165. Strike 'if'. More like when. Hopefully by the 4th of July. At least maybe then I can actually ride with the idiots I want to ride with. Stupid Road Nazis.

Actually, that last picture of you looked like they just found you after being lost in the mountains for a week with no food. I am about 5 pounds less than you at just under 5-11, and I don't look that skinny at all.

I've gained 3 kg of water retention since yesterday's ride. I'm really looking forward to letting the pee out. It's going to go on and on and on. If only there were snow outside, I would spell out supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I hear you. I'm a big frame. My pal is about the same height, and when he looks as skinny as I do in that photo (I'm probably about 168 in that picture, maybe 5 lbs lighter than I am now), he's probably 150 or so. In that respect I'm similar to Lance (it ends there), he's also not particularly small, he's more like 5'10" and the lightest he ever gets is 160 lbs. Other guys who climb like Lance and are his height are almost all well under 150 lbs in UCI racing.

I can get down to 165 or so when I'm racing bikes. I stop riding and racing and *bang* I'm 185 in 60 days or less. And that's a big reason why I ride. I don't look fat at 185 lbs by the way. Not at all.

Your incessant rambling about your weight concerned me enough to get on the scale this morning for the first time in months. 178 lbs.

It all stops here. Today. Beer calories are a major problem. Batten down the hatches.

I equate it to riding a 5 lb bike. My climbing would improve dramatically with a 5 lb bike.

5'11", I was closer to 6' when I was 20 years old. A couple of back fusions and 30 years of life hammering you on the head later, I'm more like 5'11".

I say keep pounding the Twinkies. All of you.

No, you are 18. Don't worry, you won't weigh 140 when you're 40 years old. Trust me on this.

Of course the chances that you'll actually live that long are dubious, but we can always hope for the best.

Our neighbors invited us for cocktails by the pool. The invite says 'Your Invited'. I told my wife I'd rather coat myself in honey and lie in the sun while the ants eat my flesh, but attend we must.

Friggin imbeciles.

More importantly, do you find that you bash your wrists/forearms on the K-Wings when you're hammering in the drops? It's a more pronounced problem now that I dropped my bars. Irritating.
