Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not really... 29.76mph for Cancellara by my calculations if it is actually 8km.

EDIT: My bad, it is 8.9km, so about 33 for Cancellara.

Do I need to bandage? It is just a scrape not very deep.

5.5 miles in 10 minutes = 33 mph. 11 minutes=30 mph.

I think I could do that distance @ 25 mph with a tail wind.

Oh boy did I have a massive rear tire blowout today. I mean, not for nothing, but after 60 miles this AM, friggin KABOOM!, totally a pinch flat, the tube was shredded. Tire was OK. How the hell does the tube survive hundreds of miles when it's pinched, only to suddenly detonate on a bump like that? Very strange. Those Zipp 404 clinchers are prone to pinch flats, all deep section clinchers are. So if you're racing on deep section wheels, go tubular. Seriously. I will deploy the tubie 404s for Nyack tomorrow.

Stupid clinchers.

Looks like significant road rash. Gotta cover it with something if you want it to heal any time soon, and to keep it from staining your pants and bed sheets.

Celebrating kind of. I'll go watch some fire works, other than that nothing. As always.

where in jersey? I thought you were going to MA?

It is still slightly weeping. I am keeping it smeared in antibiotic ointment at least for the day

The knuckle scrapes are the worst

Long Branch, near Asbury Park.

We're here for a couple days for the fourth.

I'm not sure about a bandage, but one of these might help.
