Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: Orbea Orca, Ridley Compact

Just got back from Wildwood Crest, NJ with the family. I was considered not taking my bike but decided to take it and I'm glad I did; rode around the surrounding towns and enjoyed the endless flatness of the area. The one ride I really did enjoy was riding on Rt. 9 going south from Rt.47 into Cape May because the shade the trees provided were a welcome change to the exposed roads everywhere, not to mention the nice homes along the way. I rode past some kids on Rt. 9 and as I passed them they yelled "speeeed cycliiiist!!". Being that I didn't see too many roadies I guess it's not a common sight as they are around my area.

Didn't see hooker on the list. Should take an extra bike in case you need to sell it for "Stuff"

I don't have a prediction. I don't even know who is racing. It's surprisingly easy to be ignorant about pro cycling if you don't get Versus or whatever channel it is that broadcasts races.

I have:

1. Lance
2. That kid that Lance talked to riding up the hill.
3. That kid's father.
4. umd
5. Drew Barrymore (I've seen pictures of her on a bike, she looks fast)
6. One of the wiggles.
7. RyanF
8. Wrangler
9. Conan (Why do you really think he won't be back until September)
10. pCad ( Do they have an over 50 class?)

I wanted to put the dude with the twitter feed, but I think he crashes in week one. Maybe even before the first stage, just warming up.

I may have to move Drew up, umd hasn't looked good in his last races....

In the, "It would be nice," category - I ran in to one of my clients on the ride home. Upon learning that I'm a fresh road bike addict, he offered to give me a wired PowerTap wheel that he has layin' around. We'll see if comes through.

I learned in the 33 that I'm supposed to hold my nose when visiting here.

Typing with one hand is slow.

Good day it was not.

Got to the group ride late. Had to kill myself just to catch up. 10miles in someone attacked and I popped of the back with another older gent. Rode with him for the other 30miles at a decent pace. Nothing compared to the P/1/2/3 pace of the group. On the way home I went into a stiff headwind for 5miles. I thought I would die. When I got home I collapsed on the steps. After 30mins here I am...

Bikes: Lynskey R240, Jamis Dakar XCR Comp, Cannondale CAAD9 (Fixed), Moto Messenger

Started my vacation yesterday with 115mi in 6h45m with a 16.5 mph avg. Rutland, VT --> Fitchburg, MA

As the Cannondale is in pieces, I did on the Fixed gear with a 43/16.

I'm shooting for 500mi this week.

I love vacation.
