No road bike ride today. So, I took out the newly-refurbished town/country bike and hit the dirt roads and farm trails around here. It was kind of like a spinning session without the feeling silly about the low speeds.

I just did a nice little ride.

Note the higher average laps. That comes out to 22.89 mph for 5.3 miles, not too bad. Then I took it easy.
And just for fun..

...am I the first guy to wonder why, in a sport plagued with drug and doping scandals, Scott calls their bike an Addict?
Yeesh, talk about mixed messages.
Shoulda stayed with the Cervelo pcad. It hs nicer cable routing.

This is how us, Freds race:
I sprinted for 78th place (out of 100 who finished) against a guy wearing white socks up to almost his knees, a mirror in the bar-end and sleeves jersey. He beat me by 0.1 seconds. After the race, I learned that he's a tri-athlete, who has varicose veins (hence the support stockings), and who doesn't give a sh*t about looking good among rodies.
Humbling at so many levels.

Oh boy did I have a massive rear tire blowout today. I mean, not for nothing, but after 60 miles this AM, friggin KABOOM!, totally a pinch flat, the tube was shredded. Tire was OK. How the hell does the tube survive hundreds of miles when it's pinched, only to suddenly detonate on a bump like that? Very strange. Those Zipp 404 clinchers are prone to pinch flats, all deep section clinchers are. So if you're racing on deep section wheels, go tubular. Seriously. I will deploy the tubie 404s for Nyack tomorrow.
Stupid clinchers.
Stupid clinchers.
Clearly they suck and you should send yours to me, PM me and I'll pay shipping.

Fan effing tastic. The person who was supposed to feed our kitties lost our house key, and the two other people who have them are both on vacation. God damn it.

Crashed lap 16 of 20 at 4/5 crit (free lap ended at 15). Solo crash toward the back so I didn't get run over. pedal strike lead to bike sliding out on me. Bike is doing ok. Just did a crappy re-wrap on the right side of the bars to be ready to run tomorrows crit.
Question:
When I got up the wheel was askew of the handlebars. I just put the wheel between my legs and made it straight. IS this ok or do I need to tighten something?
Requested pics:

I will later have pictures of my large self prior to the crash.

The beach club. Under a semi-fake name. There's very little about it. If you're interested in picking one up:
