Motorcyclists are generally complete idiots. 3 or 4 fatalities here quite recently in my local area. Every single one pilot error by the way. No evil cager aggression was required in any of those accidents, the riders did it all by themselves. So this spurs a newspaper article about how all this has shaken up the local hog morons. Here is a quote from that article, I kid you not:
News of the accidents has sobered many motorcyclists and spurred discussion at gatherings throughout Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties. Those who took risks on their bikes spoke of "being scared straight," while others talked of having fewer beers before heading onto the road. More than a few reminded each other to stay alert.
Oh the sacrifices some m/c geniuses make for safety. It makes me verklempt.

My 2GB second generation iPod Shuffle (vastly superior to the current third generation model) drowned on my ride Saturday. Fortunately Apple still sells refurbished versions of same. I ordered a replacement. I'll never know why they changed this design, it's really the perfect iPod for cyclists/joggers/hikers etc. $59. Cheap thrills.

The controls on the new one really suck.

My touch is too big for cycling, like me.

I generally use my iPhone, but I have a second gen nano that I'm very fond of and use quite a bit especially on vacation and places where I don't need a phone. I listen to way too much new music to not be able to get data on an album or song.

So Gomer, I hit 6100 miles for the year yesterday. Does this make you realize how quixotic your quest to compete in the annual Pcad Annual BF Mileage Pissing Contest actually is? Sort of like Lance after yesterday's disastrous Tour stage.

That's an older Nano. I have a first generation Nano that still works. You can really only kill them if you drown them.

that line you use "you think you're so good? why am i still here?" is brilliant. I used it on the road nazi yesterday. you think you're so good? why aren't you more than 2 hours faster than me?

I realized that racing is pointless for me, I'm really only happy when I'm riding a zillion miles and I look like a recently liberated POW.
My racing will be relegated to sponsorship and showing up to wave the flag on occasion. Other than that I'm friggin done. The Nyack Ride works for me. I go out and hang on as long as I can, and sometimes I make it to the end.

Coasting: 'You know how I know you guys aren't so fast?'
Puzzled Brit Road Nazi: 'How's that mate?' (they always say 'mate' in the UK)
Coasting: 'Because I'm still here.'
That should piss off many Road Nazis anywhere. And if it doesn't, they're not so bad.

That's not the line. If you're going to use this, get it straight.
Coasting: 'You know how I know you guys aren't so fast?'
Puzzled Brit Road Nazi: 'How's that mate?' (they always say 'mate' in the UK)
Coasting: 'Because I'm still here.'

All of cycling is pointless, racing just elevates pointlessness to some other worldly plane of futility.
