Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't race mid-week. Around here you could easily race 2x weekly from May through August, 3-4x some weeks. It wouldn't be very hard to get 30-40 races under your belt around here, active guys like gsteinb do 50+. The Nyack Ride is very race-like in many respects, I do that ride about 20x each year too.

The reason i would choose the park is just to avoid any climbing. I pretty much have to go through an area that has unavoidable short sharp hills if i do a real ride. on any of those hills, i would be mashing at some point even if only briefly in my 39/25.

if only this happened last weekend. there was a big food festival in the park.

I thought you opt to ride there simply because it's a place to avoid excessive stoplights and other road hazards.

pcad, second time out on my old bike with the clip ones. Short ride due to dinner plans 8.5 miles 21.6 mph avg. I am not even all that particularly aero, but I am starting to believe in these bars! I need to raise the seat and bring the clip ons foward a bit, if I start actually training on this bike I might actually be decent at this TTing stuff.

Going on a long mtb ride tommorrow I hope. White clay creek state park right where Maryland, deleware, and PA all come together. Fast and fun single track through field and woods. Anyone can join but it is probably too far for all of you.

I suck at every aspect of cycling. And yet, I may be the strongest cyclist in this pathetic thread.

Such is the sorry state of Addiction.

I've decided I'm going to fast for the whole of this coming weekend. I'm going to kick start my weight loss. How smart is that?

So Van der Sloot 'is sane but disrespects women'. I wonder how they determined the latter? Does murdering young women connote disrespect for them?

You know as donuts go, Krisy Kreme is the best.

I've been through heathrow 12 times (there and back) and never saw it. Whatever.

My dads british, so half my family is there. I go there fairly often.

We're flying in on Aegean Airlines from Athens arriving about 11AM, then we fly out @ 6PM or so on Continental to EWR (Newark for you J. Lunchpail non-travelers).

Hey pcad, if I worked for the airline and saw your luggage, I would steal the zipp logos off your wheels.

You would never be able to comprehend what happened and why your wheels don't have logos.
