Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've always suspected that to be the case from the odd snippets I've pieced together from 2 word posts.

I just saved someone's life, literally.

He was an ingrate yesterday, but after 5.8 hours today, I'm his hero. My work here is done.

That is all.

I'm going to see that Chasing Legends documentary tonight. Should be interesting. Tickets says sponsored by Scott Bicycles. Go figure.

I hate BP.

In 1989 they showed their colors by walking away from the clean up in Valdez.
BP Role in Valdez

In the years since they worked on their logo and public image while continuing to screw up.

BP History of Blasts

OSHA: BP less safe than other oil companies - BP accounted for an astonishing 97 percent of the most serious violations flagged by government inspectors in the last three years.

They chose to continue drilling when others had walked away... now they say it's an industry wide problem.

ExxonMobil stopped drilling after spending $180M due to dangerous well conditions in the same area

rant over, back to our regularly scheduled Fredosity.

Going on a long mtb ride tommorrow I hope. White clay creek state park right where Maryland, deleware, and PA all come together. Fast and fun single track through field and woods. Anyone can join but it is probably too far for all of you.
I used to live near White Clay Creek State Park. I mostly hiked out there though.

WCCSP also has Disk Golf. And it's near Univeristy of Delaware.

Hmm, MTB, disk golf, university.

Don't forget your pipe.

Hey Pcad,

How long is the Nyack Ride? I think I'm almost ready.

The only thing holding me back from showing you up is the 750 miles from here to there.

I think Pcad and coasting should have a contest to see who can eat the most donuts in ten minutes. Get it on video so we can verify the winner!

Use this video for training inspiration

For most of the year it's nearly 50 miles, a couple of climbs, each about a mile long, one in the middle, one at the end. If you're not in shape you'll get popped on the climb in the middle. I'd say to hang on that ride you need average Cat 4 fitness most of the time, sometimes less.
