Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I felt compelled to watch the Carlos Zambrano apology interview.

When all else fails, go to anger management treatment.

Who wants to do that? I would think that this thread would be a great source of encouragement to you.

30ish here. Average when I got home was 19.5 mph, and that includes 4-5 miles solo each way on the path at <15mph and then walking my bike into the building. People were pushing the pace hard this morning.

0 miles this morning. I'm about to bike to work though, that's .83 and 120 feet of climbing.

BTW, training groups for the Marine Corp marathon started last weekend. The paths are suddenly packed with runners like a gym in January. I ride the path 4-5 miles to avoid commuter traffic on the way to my morning rides, but I may have to start changing that.

How come on my bike the brake shoes have the screw in the front on my rear wheel and in the back on the front wheel?

Seems like they should be the same.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll get off my lazy arse and start riding to work. 5.4 miles, probably 3 feet of elevation gain...

Meh, it'll save some money and maybe I'll treat each trip as a sprint.

7 mile commute and a flat this morning.

Lezyne Pressure Drive kicks ass. Glad I had all 100 grams of it strapped to my downtube.

That elitist thread has really become painful.

Maybe it's relative to how the brakes mount to the bike?

That's the question: why mount the brake shoes with the open end pointing one direction on the front wheel and the opposite way on the rear wheel?

I realize my scientific cycling questions threated to overload the Fred circuitry here and shut down the entire system.

When you're on the outside looking in, you wish you were on the inside. Once you're inside, you realize the inside kind of sucks. Such is life.
