Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My next question was going to be, should I get black bottle holders and red bottles, or red bottle holders and black bottles? Maybe I'll start a new thread to ask.

never happened to me before but i read about that spray lube thing somewhere. maybe it was sheldon brown. i cleaned mt rear derailleur like that and the amount of crud that comes out is astonishing.

you ride in high humidity, no? i bet you also drip a lot of sweat onto your front end. i dripped onto my stem today and by the time i got home there was a crusty layer on it. salt. if i needed to ward off bonking, i would have licked my stem.

well it is cycling related. Were you out in Harriman today? Mcjimbosandwich might have had a pcad sighting. I was going to head out with him after our group made it to Conklin but went back with the group instead.

You should make it a poll.

I was coming through Harriman park by Kanawauke Circle @ about 11:45AM on the ride back from doing the Nyack Ride. I left my house @ 5:30AM and rode to Nyack, did the ride, stuck with them up to 9W, then turned north to come back. 114 mles. So when Mc saw me, I was really hurting, that last 25 miles was quite the death march. Probably the hardest ride this year.

I can do 100 miles in a day or do the Nyack Ride, doing both is a bit much. But it worked out today.

Oh yes, I'm rolling through Nyack @ 8AM, and I bomb a red light. A cop pulls me over. I'm all apologetic. He sits in his car, and I figure he's going to write me a ticket. So I look over there and he's reading this traffic law manual. Then he comes out and says he's going to let me off with a warning.

I think the problem was he couldn't quite figure out how to write a traffic summons to a cyclist. He seemed peeved that I had no ID on me. I shrugged. Gave him my name and address and he found me on the computer. Anyway, no ticket today.

I think that is a whole different sub forum.

I put sport top poland spring water bottles in mine. So, I am most definitely not the one to answer your question.

I was going to say you wouldn't get flames because you are a female, but I'm pretty sure that would be lost on some of those boys.

Bikes: Have two wheels

I was in the village today for lunch and saw this guy:

...and many others. It's the annual Franklin Automobile Trek.

I hear the music of the ice cream truck going down our street. Looked out, and all I saw through the trees was a kid on a bike. Then the truck a few seconds later. I like the idea of it being the bike.

On a side note, if I had to listen to that music as the driver all day, I would go postal.

Very cool. Some of those are slow enough that I could draft them.

Many cyclists too. Had a Scott Speedster making a left in front of me (she did it correctly). The nicest rig I saw was a Merlin Extralight. They were also checking out the Franklins.

Also, best SAG vehicle sign I've seen. "Team DFL SAG Vehicle".

Now that I think of it, if I had to match music to my riding style, it might sound like the ice cream truck music. It's this one.

For me, it's more like Funeral March of a Marionette. Especially when I'm climbing.
