Tulex 08-01-10 10:59 AM

I wore my heart strap to bed to see how low my HR gets while I sleep and recorded it on my garmin.

Over 7 hours of sleep:

.33 miles
Average speed of 0.0
Max Speed of 0.6
Calories 0
Ascent 594
Descent 603
Max HR 89
Average HR 60
Min HR 52

Head unit was on the night stand, so no, I didn't motor for 1/3 mile. Was interesting to see the HR spikes, usually about 10 minutes apart. Min HR is too high, I need to work on that. Intervals are supposed to be good for that.

I don't care about them. I burn them.

You need to leap into Sram. It's the only way.

going back to velo's maintenance discussions, I found out I have been wasting my time cleaning my chain in the past. Last couple of times I didn't bother cleaning and just wiped off the crud with a rag and then lubed it. The dirt came dripping out of the links and then when i wiped it off again, the chain was glistening clean as if I had just washed it. no more washing ever.

Though effective a method, it's not nearly as OCD. Also, no professional team would ever follow that Fred procedure.

Is it too late to enter the Velo Vol July mileage challenge? I have a preliminary figure of at least 400. There might be another 100 I didn't calculate, but it's all just a blur after awhile.

No. I had a lizard that got all stuck in my pedal and cleat and ewww.

KiddSisko 08-01-10 12:02 PM

I worked most of the day and into the night yesterday finishing a big project. It's 11am at present, with plenty of time for a ride. Today's plan: 54 mile route, half along the coast, half in the hills (including part of stage 8 of 2010's ToC), with 4Kish feet of climbing. I'll stop midway at a country style convenience store for refueling. Approx 4 hour ride.

I made the friend I was riding with remove him. In the picture I'm checking to make sure there were no remnants. Maybe I should just say it was gum.

KiddSisko 08-01-10 12:15 PM

Lizard remnants. Gack!

if i stopped cycling for the whole of next week, would i be thrown out of BF? I'm thinking of having a rest week. Today's ride convinced me that my leg muscles need to relax.

I think you just need to do some easy rides. Take it easy, but spin the legs.

Will a 24 oz polar bottle fit on my seat tube holder? Currently the bottle is too big. Need to go bottle shopping.

BD store gave me 2 polar bottles when I bought my bike. They don't stay cold as long as I thought they would...

This place really is going Fred.

I've done nine or ten centuries and only gotten one or two bottles. I could actually use some more as mine look horrible.

I turned my bike upside down and took off the wheel. Yikes.

Anyway, unless I'm mistaken, the reason my brake is sticking is because the hinges underneath the shift lever are rusty. Is there anything I can do about that?

I would buy a new Scott or Cervelo.
