Man, it looks like a scene from "Das Boot" out there. Constant 30-40 mph gusts with sideways rain.

I dont know if this has been addressed in the 60+ pages of this tthread, but im missing your posts in other threads. Its consumed you! Im confused with the name of the thread. Is it a play on words for the addict, or are you addicted to BF? Either way, nice bike!

It looks like a deal, did you have to pay duty?

That's where I got them. Then I had to pay $70 customs duty.

You Sherlock Holmes you.

I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to click on the Road Cycling thread for the first time. There's an assortment of the expected cycling related topics and inquiries, and then there's this spectacularly pointless thread with it's unseemly and unnecessary post accumulation.

Makes you wonder about the people who stay around. :twitchy:

No it doesn't.

Look, this thread started about my new Scott Addict bicycle, and then naturally morphed into an insightful, intelligent and meaningful discussion of our universal addiction to the fabulous sport of road cycling.

once this deluge is over tomorrow afternoon, its supposed to be in the low 60's all week. nice.

v70cat 03-13-10 03:01 PM

Did you buy these

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Sh...et/5360033078/

or these

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Sh...et/5360030874/

Big difference in cost, which should I get?

patentcad 03-13-10 03:06 PM

I got the WH7850 CL Carbon Laminate wheel, I already have deep section Carbon wheels from other companies. The 7850 CL is very light for a clincher wheel set, about 1400 grams, very rigid, great ride.

I'm curious how they compare to the WilliamsSys19 which are about the same weight (probably a little over that actually, but in the 1400g range)...

$784 + 70 =$ 854 much cheaper than prices in the USA, wonder why?

Except for the DA being stiffer, more responsive, lighter, more durable and better looking, I'd guess they're pretty much the same.
Both Shimano compatible, both bladed spokes and both clinchers

Correct.

New computer on the Addict. That cheap piece of crap from Performance finally gave up the ghost. This one was pricer ($50) but much slicker, smaller, cooler looking.

That other mount is for the Powertap head unit (I keep it rotated upside down when I'm not using the Ptap).

I like my Speed Deck, they give more information and last a long time.
I have one on my Lemonds that is 10 years old and still working perfect.
They cost a little more but one unit over 10 years is not bad.

I have both and on my carbon bike they feel similar. That said, I have only had them (DA s) out for a couple of short rides on the carbon frame, not really enough to give a decent report. I have had them on my aluminum build for some longer rides and the ride is much less harsh than with the Williams. A noticable difference. I got mine from Chain reaction, by the way, for $710 cdn. but they were out of stock the last time I checked. (They were selling at the Toronto Bike show for $1399. )

In deference to this weather, the first song on the iPod for today's ride will be the Jars of Clay song 'Flood'.

Up into Harriman for some hills.

Anyone see them from a US retailer for that price?

The lowlands were wet so this is where todays ride took us.

Light rain when I rolled out, hammering rain within an hour, 3 hours of that, floods everywhere, roads closed, trees down. Rode through standing water that made my BB a submarine more than once. That was soggy. I'm confident my BB will need an overhaul soon. That was somewhat more epic than I thought it would be.

nice euphemism there with 'epic'

I'd take that BB off right now and check to see if water got in the bearings.
