rear tire in first. it works out so that the bottom of the Biggest Chainring rests on the middle hump of the floor board in the back. That mound in the floorboard where the transmission goes under? You know?
I put a dirty towel on that carpeted mound, and the chainring sits right on it. The rear of the rear tire touches the inside of the far rear door. The front forks and handlebars are about 2 inches from the near side door. Then I toss the front wheel in the trunk.

I kid you not, I almost got rear-ended leaving the LBS yesterday. We were turning left, and a lady started crossing the street that we were all turning on to. The car in front of me stopped suddenly, I stopped, and the guy behind me slammed on his brakes and got really close. The pedestrian had a baby stroller, so I guess she wasn't road prey.
imagine getting the bike and destroying it same day. oh the humanity!
