Velo Vol 03-25-10 02:03 PM

I've seen crowd shots of NY sporting events--a bunch of dopey celebrities and politicians all trying to be seen with Yankee hats or whatever.

"Look at me! I have no idea what is happening on the field, but I'm here!"

Hah. Like anyone would be caught wearing a Mets or Islanders hat in public.

You should go to a game before mocking the fans . Yankees, Mets, Giants Jets,Knicks Nets, etc etc pick one. [Ok maybe not the Nets right now]. Ive been doing so since the late 50s and think theyre by and large the best crowds in sports. Yes during the World Series and big playoff games the high rollers steal alot of the seats and get alot of the attention but go to a mid season Yankee or Mets game and you are going to see some real fans who know whats going on.

No offense but SEC around here means something to do with the Securities Exchange Commisssion not a bunch of nose picking 19 year old pro wannabes.

yep. 45,000 celebrities and politicians a night. For the highest attendance over the past decade

Velo Vol 03-25-10 02:57 PM

I can see I've touched a nerve.

gsteinb 03-25-10 02:59 PM

Pointing out that you don't know what you're talking about is hardly touching a nerve.

Quel 03-25-10 03:01 PM

Now, Cubs fans on the other hand...that's a bunch of punks out to skip work and drink in the afternoon, not baseball fans. Not all of them of course, but just a higher percentage than any other team I can think of.

patentcad 03-25-10 03:29 PM

Nobody in this thread know what they're talking about.

Let's try to keep it that way.

I installed the Zero G's on the R2, which required ordering the Special Top Secret Narrow Profile brake shows from the manufacturer after I discovered the standard brake shoes were too fat for the wider D.A. rims on that bike. Mission accomplished. I did strip out the rear backing nut. I am not a skilled mechanic. But otherwise they work and look fine. I even crimped the little lead cable stops onto the end of the brake cables. My LBS says unfarkling that rear nut is easy, and I do already have a replacement part. In the meantime they're set up right and working perfectly.

How do they work? No they don't stop as good as the Ultegra brakes. But they work fine. They look way cool and they're light. Stopping. Please. I'm worried about going, not stopping. They're bicycle brake calipers. They all suck, it's just a matter of degree. You can't stop on a bicycle anyway. Ride a 500+ lb. motorcycle, experience how ACTUAL brakes perform, then try to execute a 'panic' stop on a bicycle some time (I've done both plenty of times). On a bicycle it's a real panic situation as you realize that should you really need to stop suddenly from speeds over 30 mph, you're friggin DEAD. At speeds under 25 mph you don't need that much stopping mojo anyway.

I'm waiting for the Zipp 000's.

Besides my new half alu/half CF DA hoops piss on those lame ass over priced Zipp alu wheel. Kimconyc has a set too, he also loves them.

patentcad 03-25-10 07:27 PM

My TT bike weighs 19 lbs 8oz with the Zipp 404 clincher Ptap set. Just sayin'. I can get it down under 18 lbs with the Zipp 404 tubies. Those TT bikes aren't light with all that handlebar plumbing. The S2 is 17 lbs even with the Zipp Ptap wheels, 15 lbs, 3oz. with the Zipp tubies. Either way that's light enough. The Scott is 15 lbs 14 oz with the DA clinchers. The Ibis Ti Road is about 18 lbs with a front fender. The Fly Ti MTB is about 22 lbs.

There, now you know what my bikes weigh. I hope you're all happy. Don't ask me again, I'm only telling you once.

Some schwag arrived. New mountain shifters. Removable gear indicators.

To remove or not to remove...

Suggestions?

Kai Winters 03-25-10 07:35 PM

I know something...meh who cares...

But we won't be making millions after this thread goes into syndication.

You are not helpful. I asked you a question. I shouldn't have expected an answer anyway.

the weight savings was totally not worth it IMO. from the reports i've read and heard first hand, 6700 lever/caliper combo provides excellent braking performance and modulation, a true step forward (albeit slight) from previous generation brake systems. you threw that away for a few grams.

that aside: they do look cool.

His point is that Los Angeles is the best baseball city to live in with two stellar teams to watch and root for.

I'll be happy when one of the moderators grows a spine and hits this button:
