Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

OK jorge, refresh my failing memory, what bicycle are you taking delivery on tomorrow? And from where? And why didn't you get my authorization first?

Let's see...

No built in camera
No Flash Support
No multi tasking
No USB port without some overpriced apple dingle dongle.

Does everything my touch does.... wow.

Pass.

Uh huh.

usb support is a non issue for many of us.
I could give a shlit about a low res built in camera
The multi tasking is also a non-issue.
An iPad is not an iPod Touch. It's a new category. And you'll have one within a couple of years. Most of us will.

But I'll have one first. Rather my kid will. But it's all in the family.

The degree to which people who have never laid hands on this gizmo are ready to trash it does astonish me. The positive reviews by the WSJ's Mossberg and the Times' Pogue led me to order this today, answered my last questions. I have found their reviews spot on over the past few years on just about everything by the way. They both think this is a new category and a killer product.

Mossberg and Pogue wrote extensive reviews after having the device for a week. I'd say I'm far more informed about the gizmo I just purchased than 99% of the idiots who are bad mouthing it on the web, such as yourself. The predictable 'it's just a big iPod Touch' commentary is so incredibly stupid it's almost - BF-like. No, and trust me on this, you really don't get it about this category in general, and this device in particular.

I know you do kd and thanks. I just figured if I turned this into an iPad Pissing Contest it would add a page or two right there. Hey, if you don't want an iPad, don't buy one, but trust me, these things will be in everybody's home within a couple of years. The capabilities will blow your mind when you finally get to play around with one in person from what I've gleaned from lots of reading and videos of this thing in action.

The iPad is a not-so-capable macbook that costs half a grand. It is barely more than an ipod touch.

I want one.

You guys don't get it. It's not a MacBook or an iPod Touch. It is a new category. You'll see.

Coasting - you here? What's the black star next to your name mean? Someone else can answer this too.

Part of the problem here is that nobody understands this new product. But S. Jobs is a master at creating products we never really knew we wanted, until something like the iPod comes out. Then we all gotta have it. The traction this gizmo will get when friends see their friends using it is inestimable. BIG. It will be a huge success.
