Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My first "real" ride in CO, man did it hurt! I miss those short climbs in Charleston LowCel, but it was also nice to have a 10+ mile descent! https://connect.garmin.com/activity/121851165

Biggest ride in Australia - 16,000 people out on two wheels (or three, or one). Me and my 5,000 friends did this route : https://app.strava.com/rides/1990244

My year-on-year 2011 vs 2010 comparison, I think I've improved!
Ride time: 6h50 vs 8h22
Elapsed time: 9h10 vs 12h38
Avg Speed: 30.2km/hr vs 25.8km/hr

Longer ride than usual today. 53.5mi. 1,800ft elevation gain was quite a bit for someone used to Ohio topography. Overall good ride.

Had a really nice group ride this past weekend. It wasn't overly fast but it was a lot of fun.

Everybody is faster than me.

Did my 2nd annual "boring solo century just to say I did it" ride Monday. It was in the 70s all day, and it snowed 40 hours later, so I'm glad I squeezed it in.

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/124150109

Started riding 15 month ago, and I was a good bit faster than last year, so I was happy.

You averaged 16.8 mph on a solo century with over 3,000 feet of climbing. Doesn't look too slow to me. Nice job!

First time I've posted one of my rides anywhere, so here goes.

Most enjoyable Sunday cycle I've had for a long time. Decided to try cycling with my ipod in one ear. Tested it before I got going and found I could hear the music great and also hear traffic perfectly well. What a difference it made to my cycle. Gives you a bit extra oomph when a good song comes on

Solo training ride in Scottish Borders hills. Took it pretty easy for about the first half, and then started trying harder during the 2nd. I'm quite tired now

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/125237928

I train alone so I really don't have much idea how I would fare if I was riding with others, so any feedback would be interesting to read. If i cycle like an old woman just say so - I can handle it

You cycle like an old woman. Of course, that old woman is an ex-olympian on meth. Nice looking ride, look forward to seeing some more of them.

All the rides around here are nice. I am lucky where I live. So many country roads where you can cycle for hours and not have to deal with cars. However, we do have a problem with weather. I am trying to get in as many miles as possible just now, as the Scottish winter will soon shut down my cycling options quite a LOT.

Team ride this morning. Riding a smooth paceline with friends is one of the best things about cycling. Love it.

Did this today. Felt really good with the cooler weather we're having here for a couple days. I'm definitely doing a lot more climbing now than when I was in Georgia. I like that a lot.

Had an awesome ride today with a buddy of mine. Only two negatives, got called a fat ass and almost got in a fight with a motorist.

Well this isn't garmin connect but... I had planed to do some hill repeats today but the road was closed for paving, so... I found some others near by. Not as long a climb but still OK.
