Woke up bright and early, but with a two-glasses of wine hangover. Felt a little queasy after oatmeal and English muffins. Almost cancelled my ride.
Picked a route where I could get back home easily if I got sick. As the ride progressed, the hangover disappeared and things got better and better. All the climbs seemed easier, lines on descents were smooth, nutrition was perfect. Became the best ride of the year. Not the longest or fastest, just the best.
Maybe Jacques Anquetil was onto something.

My first year road cycling, so almost every ride I do breaks some sort of personal record. Sunday I broke my distance record and completed my first century. It was a blast! https://connect.garmin.com/activity/33530082

While I was banned:
Wed 5/12: 30-30s up 154
Ever so painful 30-30 intervals up 154. 2 sets of 10, with a 10 minute break at San Antonio Creek Road.
Thu 5/13: Solvang Loop
Up 154 & 246 to Solvang, 101 back. Did 40-20s (40 seconds max, 20 seconds rest) up the 154 for 10 minutes starting at San Antonio Creek. I thought 30-30s were bad but these were death. By the end I could barely pedal. Like Tabatas on crack. The 40 seconds took FOREVER and the 20 seconds was gone in a flash. Legs, I hardly knew ye.
Fri 5/14: Refugio and back
Another easy day out to Refugio. The winds were picking up and by the time I was coming back it was a decent head/cross coming from the south/south east. Generally I did a good job of keeping the power down and the ride felt fairly effortless. My HR stayed low and dropped quickly whenever I had a dip in power (e.g. the Refugio turnaround).
Sat 5/15: Costa Mesa to Weslake
Was down at Whittier College for brother-in-law’s law school graduation, and wanted to get a 5 hour ride in after, so I rode back to Kim’s parents house. Winds from the south/southwest meant stiff head and crosswinds the whole way. Got “lost” a few places, notably Long Beach and Palos Verdes, and ended up crossing the mountains at Encinal Canyon instead of Malibu Canyon which added on several more miles. I also visted Nick at Helen’s in Santa Monica.
Sun 5/16: Sunday Worlds + Gibraltar
Thought I was running late to the group ride so I took Old Coast Highway to get ahead of them, but they started late so I probably would have been ok. Stayed with the group up **** but had no legs on Bates. Stayed near the front on the way back and mixed it up a bit in the sprint. Rode up Toro, Ladera, Mountain and Gibraltar with Gary. Was pretty fried up Gibraltar. I guy on the side of the road gave me some more water, and Gary gave me a Clif bar when he headed back down

The OP's ride shows 191 was the max for that ride, which was 99% of his max as entered in GC, which would put it around 193. Max HR can be hard to pin down exactly, but I don't see any reason to believe that it is not correct. What makes you think that something must be off?

Another day playing on the freeway. Nice easy ride in relatively calm conditions which is nice, but the flipside is that it was foggy because there was no wind. Can't win em all.

My max HR is a bit over 200. I think I've hit 203 or 204 this year, which is down from 210 last year. That first ride, my max I hit was 191, but that is a bit below my max. What seems off to you?
Also, as an update, I have been flying the past 5 days, before that it was raining, and now I'm home for 2 days and it's raining again. I leave friday to fly for 5 more days. This is not the kind of training I was hoping to get leading up to my Half Ironman. I've ridden maybe a couple times in the past couple weeks. All this for less than $20k/yr. I hate my job.

Ride in the rain. It won't kill you. Regarding the max HR, I think arcticbiker is making the common mistake of assuming everyone has comparable HRs.

umd - Where is the turnaround point for Refugio? Is it a safe/natural turnaround or are you like carrying your bike across the divider or something ...?

For Refugio there is an exit and and underpass that takes you under the freeway towards the entrance to the beach area, then you get back on the freeway in the other direction at the onramp. Yesterday's ride was to Mariposa Reina which is further out, but you take the exit and an overpass takes you over to the other side, and then back down the onramp. It is that last overpass before Gaviota.

Finally got my Edge 500 Neutral Edition <3...
First ride with the cadence/speed sensor... https://connect.garmin.com/activity/33792008
First ride with the cadence/speed sensor and HRM strap... (still need to get the HR zones all dialed in though...) https://connect.garmin.com/activity/33834623
Am loving all the info, am still trying to figure out which app/site I like most. Garmin Connect is great but I am using SportTracks also for local storage/commenting.
While we're on the subject, anyone know how to modify the virtual partner speed when running a course for the first time (mapped by ridewithgps) ?? Did a ride and virtual partner's average speed was 189 mph... lol

It has to be somewhere on the site that generates the file. I'm not familiar with ridewithgps, but bikeroutetoaster has a speed setting. You can even set different speeds for flats and climbs.

Solvang loop again.
10x 15" sprints on the 2 minutes on the way up the 154 and 10x 30-30s on the 101 on the way back. Nice tailwind for much of the 101.

I found a picture on wikipedia of the Gaviota coast. It shows the freeway curving around after coming through the mountains from the upper left, and the Mariposa Reina overpass near the bottom of the picture, just above the large circular tanks. That is where I turn around on my "Mariposa Reina" rides. This picture is basically facing west, north is to the right in the picture (the coast is south-facing).
Up the road, obscured by the mountains in the picture is the Gaviota Pass. Riding southbound, as I did today the road goes over a narrow bridge. Riding northbound, you have to go through a tunnel which isn't very fun. There isn't much room, it's not lit (or not well lit), slightly uphill, and if it's the slightest bit windy, it's like riding in a hurricane. South is up in this picture.

First Thursday night hammerfest back after some c-bone down time. Popped like a balloon at the turn for Rt. 2, but recovered and had a nice ride back chasing down some of the other droppees.

Thought I might join in with a few rides that I've done since getting my garmin 500 which I love and makes me crave power too.
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/31256466
Here is my data from the 2010 Northeast Florida Bicycle Club's Tour de Forts. I pulled four or five guys from somewhere around the ferry up into Amelia Island before some guys who wanted to go faster than I did took a wrong turn leaving me to ride on to Ft Clinch. We formed a group at the fort sag stop that split again after the 70 mile turn, leaving me with a regular partner celebrating his 50th the next day. He and I then stopped at the "middle of nowhere" stop where gathered a few more familiary faces for the run in.
