I certainly don't. You probably shouldn't either unless you would care to illuminate me on something actually salient to my posts.

Nor do I care what your opinion is, and perhaps no one else should either. On that side note...why have a forum/message board? Is it only to exist in a self-congratulatory noise chamber?

I'm really happy that people race at a Cat 3 and 4 level on a CAAD 10. Did I ever say that they couldn't? Did I ever say that somehow this bicycle was inadequate for those purposes? Good for them though - I wish them years of fun and success, though it has nothing to do with any of the apparent heresies I've uttered here.

For what it's worth, aside from the unfamiliar handlebar setup that the shop put together, and a stock saddle which was not to my liking, I couldn't tell a bit of difference between the way the two bikes rode. Not one. My only other impressions were speculating on the engineering, and after my Germany discover, on the business model.

But I continue to post in this thread because the nature of the responses has been very fascinating. I would have been intrigued by either confirming or contradictory technical and commercial information to my impressions and speculations. What happened instead has been far more intriguing; prickly replies to things I never wrote, but that were somehow inferred in the minds of the authors. It's been very interesting to read those, and attempt to infer exactly how each particular cognitive gap was jumped. Invariably, one is left with the impression that the ongoing "debate" has little to do with the actual bike.

Pretentious troll is still pretentious. Somebody PM me when this thread gets back on track.

I think we should too. It did, however, raise some interesting points to ponder, considering that the market that AAFES caters to regarding bicycles is the exact same market segment that Wal-Mart and Target occupy. All those other bikes in the AAFES/Wal-Mart/Target lineup are almost entirely Pacific/Dorel products. The possible direction that the company is taking is not too drastic of a logical leap, though it is just that: a logical leap. Extrapolations beyond that are little more than suppositional models, and are by no means based on, say, knowledge of an actual business plan.

The development is by no means conclusive of anything, and may not even be a recent development. Time alone will tell, and there is certainly nothing to be done one way or the other. But I think every Cannondale fan has been watching Dorel closely since the acquisition. I also think that every Cannondale fan still is, no matter what they say. Hence the otherwise unexplainable anxiety.

2 or 3 pages of BS, way to derail a cool thread.

Sorry guys/gals didn't mean to start a flame war on the internet. I was just excited to get the bike and at a price I was o.k. with.

Anyway, I love the bike and will go back to reading/learning and keep my mouth shut.

AIRBORNE!

You didn't start a flame war...I'm still not certain how I did though.

Anyhow, you should be excited about that bike! I think you'll love it, and I hope REI gets you set up right.

Getting lighter, but could use some Soul 2.0s.

Eventually I'll get a lighter fork. At 321gms there's some weight to be shed. The Souls will be ~ 80gms less. Could build a lighter set using Kinlin 200s or Stans Alphas, but the ride is so tight and precise as is stands, The 2.0s will just complement it.

not sure I've ever seen a CAAD under 14 lbs. PLUS, it looks very cool!!! Nice work!!

Banzai,
Regardless of any extraneous and useless personal opinions from anyone, Thank You For Serving Our Country:thumb: in your plastic viper:rolleyes: You are a first rate guy and are protecting our freedoms and in the line of fire. My thanks for all you do. BTW, jets are for kids (said the old Marine Air Wing, wingwipe electronics maintainer)

If you wanted me to "bash" the CAAD10, I'd say something more like; the welds are ugly...

I didn't want to do anything of the sort. It's a true statement, but obviously irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. that's why I put a smiley face after the comment - it was just a lightly humorous dig. If I really wanted to "bash" the CAAD10, believe me, it would have been clear and unambivalent.

My original question was a genuine request for comments about the 9 vs 10 comparison. I'm beginning to see them now. I'd hoped my 9 would be rated closer to the quality of the 10, but sadly, it seems that the 10 is quite a lot better than my 9. (But I do still have prettier welds!)

I test rode a new CAAD 8 5 yesterday thats on sale for 1099.00 but I have also test ridden a Fuji Roubaix 1.0 that is on sale for 999.00. The Fuji comes with an actual 105 cassette (the CAAD has a tiagra one), but the CAAD has a carbon seat post and maybe a slightly better stock saddle.

I am having trouble deciding between the two and couldn't think of a better place to get sold on the CAAD :thumb:....So sell me!

Right now the determining factor is that the Fuji is 100 bucks cheaper and I like the color better.

Hello All,

I'm sorta still new and about a month ago I got my 2013 CAAD10 5. I posted a picture of it a few pages back.
On my CAAD10 5, does anyone know what the #3 represent on the seat post pole? Please see attached picture. All the other CAAD10 5 I've seen has a #5 on it... http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=265675

proileri 08-05-12 04:33 PM

I recently bought my first road bike, it's a CAAD4. Am I in the cool kids' club now? :D

Probably just a sticker/decal error. My CAAD10 3 has that 3 sticker on it.

NWS Alpine 08-05-12 04:35 PM

Yeah the same color is available in the 10-3 spec. Just a sticker error. I removed all my stickers anyways.

That is what I was thinking but wasn't sure if the #3 represented a CAAD10 3. Next question: Are both frames identical? or if they are different, could someone let me know the differences?

Thanks.,

Same frame from base model to the highest model. The ultimate just has the lightest non painted finish and reportedly weight sorted tubes. Overall they are the same frames.

JFITALIA:

What kind of brake calipers are those? And is that a KCNC seatpost?
