Does anyone know if CAAD 8 really is a different grade of aluminum? Cause I believe the CAAD 10 is still 6069 series aluminum, which considering it's price tag is really surprising and unimpressive. I'd expect it to be 7000 grade. 7000 done right is stronger and lighter than 6000. This has been confusing me for a few weeks now as I've been comparing CAAD 10 to the Selene frameset.
If not, then I should probably look at CAAD 8.

CAAD8 = 6061
So, yep, there is a difference.
CAAD10 has race geometry, CAAD8 has more relaxed geometry. CAAD10 > CAAD8 IMO.
All in all, choose whatever you like.
cheers

I have 12,000 miles on my CAAD10 and it hasn't fallen apart yet. I've never seen an aluminum bike with issues that weren't crash related.

No durability issues with the tubes or anything else on my 10. It is a 2012, level 4 and I logged 4000+ miles last year without any issues what so ever. I keep it cleaned and lubricated as I feel it needs, the cleaning pretty much on going. I have been on the ground 3 times with it and no tubing damage was found on any of the crashes, they were hard enough to dent a tube. The tubing is pretty sound and isn't as fragile as some would have you believe. The 606X aluminum tubing is a good alloy that has been used and perfected over the years in many different applications. I have a 97 R500 C'Dale that is as sound as the day it rolled into the dealer, my daughter now uses it as a daily rider and commuter.
You won't regret the choice of a CAAD 10, and the 2 level is a really nice bike.

No it's a CAAD7 I bought a new a few years ago. Sold it after a few months but only after changing the shifters to DA. I bought into the "fear" that it wasn't a durable bike because of the warranty language. I know now that it is a fine bike that could be ridden for many happy miles. Wish I would have kept it.

Yeah I love my CAAD7, I am saving for a CAAD10 but I wll not be getting rid of the 7 though. I am also plannng to put either a 5700 or Rival group on it. Mine still has a 5500 group except the rear derailleur which is 6500.

So, I have a bit of an update to my creaking/snapping bottom bracket issue (described waaaay back here https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...1#post15798914 in JUNE).
The shop tore down, cleaned, and rebuilt the crank and BB30 three or four times this summer. Each time the snapping and creaking would return after about 70-100 miles. They finally got Cannondale involved, and Cannondale has given me the following options:
1. Have them re-machine the bottom bracket interface in the existing frame (2013 10 5 - team while/green/blue), or
2. Replace the frame only with a "black" 2014 frame.
I'm not too excited about either option. I like the color of the 2013, but I question whether it will really solve the problem. They assure me there will be a new warranty on the frame, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of another season where my bike is in the shop four times. The "black" frame is, I'm guessing, the 10 5 black which I'm not too fond of. I highly doubt it's the 10 3 black on black since I'm seeing lots of posts about backorders (I ride a 52cm).
So, there is finally some progress. Cannondale seems to be accomodating, I'm just a little frustrated with the shop that it has taken this long to get Cannondale involved.
What are your thoughts about the two options?

Are they able to replace it with the 2014 team colors? Just note the 2014 caad10's have the rear brake cable internally routed through the frame like the EVO's

I'm not crazy about the 2014 10-5 frame either but a real pic of it looks better than the stock photo on the website.

LordLivingston, you might want to check out BB30 to GXP adapter + GXP Crankset. I'm in the process of converting my Quarq BB30 to GXP spindle. My Quarq crankset came with removable crankarm, so this is possible. Or replace the crankset if it is not possible. Velonews did a review on this adapter.

I also have this issue after every ±200miles. I'm tired of it and will give this a shot. In fact, all parts have arrived. Hopefully, I will be finished with the conversion job by tonight. Will post my impression near future.

I've found my 58 frame will be with me on Tuesday. Hopefully get it built up with Sram Red and Zipp finishing kit.
Got a 56 black on the black in the shop today.
I weighed the frame with hanger and bottle cage bolts and it came in 1199g and the fork weighed 407g, expander 16g.
Seriously can't wait to get out on it, a winter of road riding on the CX bike has left me needing some speed.

Crank - not BB-related problem which really makes me a little bit angry. Blardy FSA SL-K Light Non-Drive-Side crankarm pedal retaining nut has come loose. Took it to the LBS - already knowing the answer (as a couple of mates have had the same issue and a quick internet search brought up a number of similar failures) and he confirmed it will require a new crankarm - non-repairable fault. I've emailed FSA to see what their response is, but I'm not hanging my hat on a positive outcome.
LBS gave me a Wheels Mfg BB-adapter, which was a simple plug-n-play fit and I put my DA7800 crankset on for the crit today. The DA crankset is lighter, works well and shifts MUCH better than the FSA rings to boot. I think I'll be leaving it on there from hereon in.
cheers

I changed my mind about swapping the spindle. I decided to wait until I get a 6800 ultegra crankset + Stages PM + Praxis Works BB30 adapter. I will install the GXP crankset to my CX bike (crankset came with 46-38t).
The conversion though is still doable. I attached the pics from last night investigation. I can't say about the adapter as I didn't ride it.
On the first picture, two crank arm types. Above is BB30, below is GXP spindle.

Fellow CAADsters, I'm looking for mud guards so i can spend less time doing laundry. I've done some research and the Crud Roadracers look good but I'm not sure if they'll fit. Any Roadracer experience? Any mud guard recommendations?
#7299
I have the road racers and while I've never installed them on my CAAD I would think they would fit just fine. But be warned, they are the most frustrating things in the world to set up.
