I changed my mind about swapping the spindle. I decided to wait until I get a 6800 ultegra crankset + Stages PM + Praxis Works BB30 adapter. I will install the GXP crankset to my CX bike (crankset came with 46-38t).
The conversion though is still doable. I attached the pics from last night investigation. I can't say about the adapter as I didn't ride it. On the first picture, two crank arm types. Above is BB30, below is GXP spindle. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=359112http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=359113 |
Fellow CAADsters, I'm looking for mud guards so i can spend less time doing laundry. I've done some research and the Crud Roadracers look good but I'm not sure if they'll fit. Any Roadracer experience? Any mud guard recommendations?
|
I have the road racers and while I've never installed them on my CAAD I would think they would fit just fine. But be warned, they are the most frustrating things in the world to set up.
|
I have crud mk2's, & they fit all my road bikes. I run 23mm, & they have enough clearance for 25mm(most).
|
my crud mk2 rear fender snapped in half at the brake as I was riding. Only had it for 1 week... went back to sks roadracer, little bit heavier but will last a long time and no clearance issue
|
MK2's are meant to break away in the event of catching debrit/branches. I only fitted them up to see if they fit my bikes.
They didn't fit my CXer with disc breaks, so I when full fender on my MX/GG/rain bike. I have to admit MK2's look pretty slick on the bike. |
Don't have CAAD, but I also use Crud MK2. It shouldn't matter what bike it is. It fits any bike that uses road bike brakes. Narrow and thin enough to fit under the brakes and the zip ties attach to where the brakes are attached. Easy guide to follow. I like them because they are full wrap around. They haven't impacted my riding at all.
- If it's salty, you will still need to clean off the hubs and chain. Maybe the cassette. The crank and deraileurs were good, especially the front deraileur. - I think they are low profile enough that the bike still looks good. I'm glad the fenders didn't ugly up the bike. |

Got a call from the shop on Saturday, new CAAD10-3 black on black has arrived. Will be picking it up later this week.
I hate you, the LBS, your new bike, the distributor, the person that called you, the UPS guy that brought the bike to the store, the mechanic that is assembling it, and most of all, my bank account. Signed Bitter, jealous wanna be CAAD10 owner  |

Nice Pic.
This would look awesome if it was a pano. |
Hey guys, I've come across what I believe to be a pretty good deal on a used 2011 CAAD 10 1 (Dura Ace model with the Shimano RS80's). It's a local (to me) guy who got it from a bike shop that I'm good friends with the owner.
It's looking like I can snag it for $1450. Does that sound reasonable? |

That's the same bike I have Put 3500 hard Chicago miles on it last year. Had to swap out the right shifter about 1 year 2 months but Sram warrantied it. Of course the bike shop I got it at is like 4 blocks from headquarters. Best money I have ever spent on a bike. Wheels! Why the crap are they so expensive!

Signed Bitter, jealous wanna be CAAD10 owner  Really the mechanic?? But he looks like Santa?! I am certain that his beard functions as an extra set of hands during the assembly process. But the others I do understand, because of them I couldn't get the bike 3 weeks earlier and now must wait until Friday when I can drive to NJ to finally pick it up. Signed A super impatient, don't now why I just didn't leave the moment I got off the phone, soon to be CAAD10 owner |
Good for you Doughboy6, that will be a really satisfying bicycle. I have not regretted buying my 10 4 at any point, it is serving me very well. I swapped the stock Schwalbe Lugano 23's for Conti Gatorskin 25's and put on a K-Edge chain catcher for peace of mind, other than my choice of a saddle wedge bag and some lights, nothing has needed changing. The shop spent time with me in fitting it to my size and my riding needs, it is a very comfortable bicycle no matter how bad or good the road may be. I'll look forward to some pictures and a first ride report from you when you have it at home.

That price is a bargain. Its so good I'm not even asking if it fits. That price is low enough for you to flip the bike in an eBay auction and make a decent return.

Got a quick question.
I'm in the process of adjusting my fit, and lowered my stem 15mm today. There's now a pretty high stack of spacers on top of the stem as you can see. Is it safe to do some rides with this amount of spacers, to perfect my fit? The expander plug sits perfectly inside the steerer tube (aligned on the inside of the stem), and everything is tight as should be. No play in the headset or anything. The steerer will be cut, but since I'm in the process of changing handlebars and going from 100 to 120mm stem, I would prefer waiting to cut the steerer tube until the fit is perfect. Thanks! http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7b7c4180.jpg |
