I normally ride with 2 so losing 1 would save a lot of weight. If I ran out, well, that's what water fountains are for.

Quick question: anybody using a SRAM bb30 crankset on their caad9: how many plastic spacers did you put on the non-drive side between the dustcover and the wavy washer?

The CAAD8 is an "comfort"/lower level road bike unlike the 9/10 which are performance/higher level bikes.
The CAAD8 has a higher HT(iirc) and heavier frame, non-full carbon fork(iirc as well) and starts with lower components&lower price.

CAAD8's were introduced as detuned CAAD9's.
CAAD9's became mid-level bikes price-wise. CAAD8's turned out to be nice bikes actually. There's a gorgeous built-up Black C8 here. |

Does anybody know the history of the caad 8? I recently bought one and was wondering with the popularity of the caad 9/10 why Cannondale is still producing the 8. (not that I'm complaining - I really like the bike). I thought I had read somewhere that it was "reintroduced" but maybe I'm mistaken.
The Pre-Caad 9 Caad 8s (Prior to 2007, I believe) were awesome race frames. The Six-13 was based off that Caad 8. The new (2010 and newer IIRC) Caad 8's are entry level rides with a more relaxed geometry. |

Put a very heavy wheel on either side of your bike and put a very light wheel on the other side. See if you notice a difference with your bike handling when you change its weight distribution and make it uneven.
I first noticed the importance of balance in performance from working with tools. A tool that might feel heavy when not in use, but it becomes light when being used for what it was intended for. It's not like the wheels are next to each other. They are front and back. Wheel weight doesn't cause an issue in terms of cornering, handling or performance.. |
Hey everybody, just picked up a caad10 5 with the FSA Gossamer crank. In the package of owners manuals and stuff that I received from the LBS I found one plastic spacer. So I read the directions from FSA and they say that they include 3 spacers with their crank set, and that they are not normally needed if the BB is cut to their specs. So since I have only one spacer, can I assume that 2 spacers have been installed into the BB of the bike? Is this normal for a caad10 or caad9 to need the spacers to eliminate play, and are the cranks installed at Cdale factory or at the LBS during assembly? I just want to make sure that my bottom bracket wasn't cut incorrectly and cause me problems down the road. Thanks in advance, Don

Exactly. BTW...that CAAD3 frame was the one where Cippolini looked into the camea afer breaking the Giro stage win record and said, "Cannondale makes the best bikes."
super stiff, slightly harsh but light enough for me to win the junior national hillclimb on. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=188893 |

Couldn't find it on CDale's site, but scavenged on up here...

Since I drooled through this whole thread, I HAVE to get my 98 R200 CAAD2 out... I'm 12 weeks post Total Knee Replacement, riding my hybrid on the indoor trainer, and planning to hit the trails with my MTB. But after this thread, I need to get that R200 out and put it on the trainer instead. Originally bought for my wife in 98, she wanted a triple crankset, so we splurged and upgraded to 105 triple and front derraileur. All the bike needs is tires/tubes, brake pads and bar tape. And a real good cleaning. Maybe a pic of it dirty later today.

RSX group. http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/s...d/Bike0007.jpg Swapped the RSX double crank for the 105 triples. http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/s...d/Bike0008.jpg What are these pedals? I don't remember what they were. Is there a weight limit on 700x23 tires? I way just shy of 300 pounds. |
just weighed my bike. its 18.1 lbs...nothings really upgraded for weight either. the fizik saddle was most importantly for comfort but it weighs a ton. the fizik post actually weighed a little less and came in a little shorter than my c2 post? weird...but a good thing. i have shimano spd pedals, probably heavy :P
what would be an anchor? wheels, brakes, pedals, fork, in that order of weight and price...? any ideas? |
my 10 frameset is coming in this week. any reccomendations on what stem/bar combo to run. frame is black/white with a hint of blue.
|
Took my caad9 out for the first time today. Being able to really put power down with virtually no frame flex is simply amazing. I feel like i went from a 1980 toyota pick-up to a lamborghini.
The Caad9 has brought me into a whole new world of possiblitys! Love it. |
Looking at the current CAAD10 what is the opinion of the Rival groupset vs the Ultegra?

That said, I prefer Ritchey WCS bars and stems. I like the reach, drop and curve of the bars and they tend to be fairly light and stiff for the price. |
