Those are very heavy and somewhat anonymous wheels - I'd avoid and check out Neuvation (www.neuvationcycling.com). It's hard to find good wheels for $100 though; Neuvation has a deal on their M28X aero's: $59 for a 2011 front, add another $150 for a 2012 rear and you've got a wheel set that is ~400g lighter and probably stronger for just over $200.

I am not sure how much they cost in the US but Shimano RS30s can be had in white. I think with the white bits on the ends of the stays and forks, white wheels should look good. If you are into that sort of thing you could also fit a white saddle and bar tape and the wet white Ritchey stem and seatpost look nice too.

I love it. I would have guessed the weight would be lighter considering the build. I heard the Ultegra build out the box is in the 17 lb range.

What's up Cult.

I have been "lurking" since I broke out.
Been keeping an eye on all the magnificent rigs you guys have been posting.
I was super tempted to post, but I decided to be strong an stick to my "BF Sabbatical".

Anyhooo...here's my CAAD9 with a few new "tricks" for your viewing pleasure.
Weight is at 16.57lbs (working on that to get her to that 15lb range).

Buen Provecho'!

16.67lbs before Praxis Rings & Far & Near Bolts:

Here's a vid of my CAAD 9. Swapped tiagra triple for Dura 7800. Liking the change.

Great vid drakonis08! The music was perfect for a timelapse video.

Same thing I did...
-Groupset:
-Ultegra 6600 Cassette
-Ultegra SL Double Crankset
-Praxis Clover Standard Chainrings
-Dura Ace 7800 Bottom Bracket
-Dura Ace 7800 Front Derailleur
-Dura Ace 7800 Rear Derailleur
-Dura Ace 7800 Shifters
-Dura Ace 7801 Chain
-CNC Ultralight Brakes
-SwissStop GHP2 Green Pads

Next on my list will be a SRAM Red Black Cassette (to knock off about 70g) and
a Black KMC X10SL Chain to continue the murdered-out look (+ to save another 40g).

Nice silver on that CAAD. The 7800 group must look perfect on it.

(If you haven't already) Pics please?

 Thanks!

I'm glad you opined because it's almost ready for the "Hot Or Not" Thread!
Just have a few more "tweaks" to pull off.

Among them, I'm going to cut the fork again and slam the stem even MORE with a 15mm Carbon Conical Spacer, a "flat" Carbon Stem Top Cap, Carbon Bar End Caps, Carbon Chainstay Protector, a possible swap to a Fi'zi:k Arione OO Saddle (the Aliante is comfortable as all heck, but I need something a little racier), Post Clamp, Cage Bolts, Chain Catcher & Presta Valve Caps (mostly all CNC/lighter weight and blingier).

Along with that, I'm going to have my wife paint in the Cannondale Logo on the head tube like she did with the "Edge" graphics on the fork (Black of course) and the labels on the bike to give it a stealthier look. The Stem is definitely going to get murdered-out too. I'm seriously contemplating replacing it with a much slimmer profile stem (only if the new one will be both stiffer and lighter).

Wheelsets:
Have to get my hands on a set of Soul S2.0's and a set of 58mm Carbon Clinchers.

As a college student reading that: Holy **** that is a lot of money. Or at least it seems like it.

As someone that earns close to six figures, **** yeah it's a lot of money!
Those upgrades are going to be $700., but they're going to drop about 170g and
aesthetically, it's going to make a huge difference. It's going to have a mean stance.
But, I don't have any expensive habits except this, so I find the money here and there.
Also, I got everything super super cheap. For me, bargain hunting is part of the fun.

As she stands now, she's about $3,700., but if I had to pay market value
(below MSRP) for any of the bits, she'd easily cost me much closer to $5,000.
It took me a year to do it. That really comes out to only $15.41 per work day.

However, believe it or not, my next bike will be $5,000. and it will be an even better value.
It's going to come pretty damn close to what I have now, but about 2.5lbs lighter and
it'll be a carbon twin of my current CAAD:

I came so close to picking up a 105 in that gray.

Have all the respect in the world for SRAM,
but damn that frameset would look awesome with an Ultegra SL groupset.

Very very nice!:thumb:

TooSlow4u 10-23-11 11:24 AM

agreed with the SL but i got a better with the sram group. Trying to get this to 16.5 - .75 but not sure if that'll happen.

Next project is 2011 SS.

Yep I've got one of those too. Mine is the full 105 group and it works just fine. A pretty good start and a lot of potential for upgrades later.

x-post from the diet thread, 2ndGen directed me here. some really rockin' bikes here! :thumb:

here's my new ride, started life as a stock CAAD10-4 not too long ago. unfortunately I don't know what the starting weight was. there's a bikeradar review that puts it at 17.26lb, w/o pedals and cages.

http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-T7...0/P1030872.JPG

16.53lbs with the (heavy) stock fulcrum racing 7s. haven't had a chance to throw on my yishun 50mm tubulars yet, I need to switch the freehub from campy -> shimano first.

I took it for 50mi and ~5k feet of climbing yesterday, including Mt. Greylock in MA. it's ridiculously responsive compared to my Six13. I definitely felt the road more (again, relative to the Six13), but I wouldn't call it "harsh". will have to see how it does on 4+ hour rides though.

please excuse the poor lighting and crappy wrap job. first time using lizard skins tape, i don't think i'm a fan. they sternly warn not to stretch it, but maybe i took that too literally as it's very puffy...
