here's my new ride, started life as a stock CAAD10-4 not too long ago. unfortunately I don't know what the starting weight was. there's a bikeradar review that puts it at 17.26lb, w/o pedals and cages.

http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-T7...0/P1030872.JPG

16.53lbs with the (heavy) stock fulcrum racing 7s. haven't had a chance to throw on my yishun 50mm tubulars yet, I need to switch the freehub from campy -> shimano first.

I took it for 50mi and ~5k feet of climbing yesterday, including Mt. Greylock in MA. it's ridiculously responsive compared to my Six13. I definitely felt the road more (again, relative to the Six13), but I wouldn't call it "harsh". will have to see how it does on 4+ hour rides though.

please excuse the poor lighting and crappy wrap job. first time using lizard skins tape, i don't think i'm a fan. they sternly warn not to stretch it, but maybe i took that too literally as it's very puffy...

What tires are those?

LesterOfPuppets 10-28-11 12:37 AM

Just guessing...

My home is starting to look like their shop.

I'm not a "green" kind of guy (especially replica racers),
but I'm getting quite used to Cannondale Team Colors.

;)

BBQ...it never fails to float my boat.
And I LIKE yours!

Question:
What headtube spacer are you using?
I want to slam my stem even more.
I'm going with a 15mm, but your's "looks" lower.

:D

Thanks, dude! Appreciate the kind words!

Ask and you shall receive.

It's just a cheap headset by Stolen Bike Co. with a 130mm -10º on top of it.

Just a good DLSR I bet.

K. Legaskpi - Just FYI, you aren't supposed to run a spacer above the stem according to Cannondale. That compression cap that you have on there (the one that reads "SYSTEM INTEGRATION") actually extends down into the carbon fork steerer. It's supposed to internally reinforce the steerer for the full length of the stem clamp, but if you run a spacer above the stem like you are doing, you are essentially leaving part of the steerer vulnerable to a potential failure. You should cut the steerer down to 2-3mm below the top of the stem and use NO spacers above it. You could also put one or more spacers under the stem if you don't want to go through the trouble of cutting the steerer.

I just thought this was worth mentioning, because most people think a spacer above the stem is good practice. It is with some manufacturers, but Cannondale does things differently I guess.

I already have my top cap.
I want a flush finish like this...

For this stem. (I already have the excess spacers cut off)...

I'm thinking of either of these types
(though I'm leaning towards the 15mm just to have the extra space):

Yes. That's what I went with for my current build. There's a 5mm spacer in there too, but it will soon change to a 2.5mm spacer because the PRO Vibe stem I'm putting on there is slightly taller and the steerer is already cut so short that I'll need that extra 2.5mm to stay within the Cannondale recommended 2-3mm between the top of the steerer and top of the stem.

ilovecycling 10-28-11 11:34 PM

2ndGen- I say go with a short top cap and if you need the extra stack height you can add another 5-10mm spacer. It looks better this way.

ilovecycling 10-28-11 11:35 PM

Zitter- What kind of stem is that? I like it.
