Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wonder what's going on with that attempted murder at the Taco Bell over Beefy Crunch Burrito going from 99 cents to $1.49...

Today's practice module will be: mounting the bike with the shoes clipped in the pedals.

I'm going to resist the temptation to post one of those let's laugh at the Tri-geeks in the transition area videos.

It's a bit far for me. It looks somewhat similar to a climb near here. I feel like I've done something when I make it to the top of that baby.

If "bring it" = timing myself for 20 miles, I can do that, for entertainment purposes. Like I've said, though, it's apples to oranges. On flat stretches yesterday I was averaging 1+ mph faster than I could ever hope to do around here.

It's still on the menu here. It's still 99 cents here too. I should ask if they raised the price around the same time as the shooting and then put it back to 99 cents.

why?

You are no longer allowed to keep your shoes clipped in in transition.

unless of course you are talking about clipping in one side and mounting the bike.

Oh they put the kibosh on keeping shoes in the pedals?

I wonder why more tri-pros don't just do the cycling leg in running shoes and track pedals or old road pedals made for slotted cleats. Doesn't seem like bike shoe advantage would be greater than the shoe change disadvantage.

Since when and where? They're still doing it at every race I've seen.

Your resolution made absolutely no sense. There's no way I could have trained for that. All I asked VV to do was find a flat piece of land. The TT is much more agreeable to both parties.
