Looking Titanium Bikes: Generic/Alternative Brands
*looking at ti bikes*
im looking for a ti bike, most likely to replace my surly cross check, but maybe to go with road.
im doing my research as to what makes a good ti frame, and have researched a few domestic builders. here are my limits:
1. frame cost (including shipping) needs to be around 600.
thats pretty much it, but cost always is.
im familiar with habanero but they are still out of reach. and yes, i know about moots, lynskey, etc., but again they cost too much for me.
google has shown limited results for Predator Bike/JW Racing
https://predatorbike.com/
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_1237wt_1139
does anyone have any experience with this company?
any helpful information?
thanks

sorry I think you'll be hard pressed to find a new TI frame at any level for $600 incl shipping. Habernero is the lowest cost option. Even the old performance bike TI frames that were going around about a year ago were in the $800 +/- range.
Maybe you can contact a chinese manufacturer directly -- but then you're going into hit or miss territory.

I have a nice titanium HASA frame ... have you looked into one of those?

And if you're from the US, this site has them:

We got mine from Cycling Deal here in Australia.

I have an FXM mountain frame. It's great! Welds are quality and the tubes have a nice brushed finish. The geometry works for me and everything is straight. Not much else I could ask for. I bought it from them when they had a promo for $530. It was a super deal and I have no regrets. I also have a bikesdirect ti road frame as a reference. Those frames are made in Taiwan and are a notch better in quality. Welds are cleaner, the tubes are shaped, and the finish is shinier. You can do what I did. Buy a complete Ti Rival from BD ($1600) and sell all the parts. You can easily get $600 for the group and if you add up the wheels, pedals, stem, seatpost, fork, etc, you'd get close to predator's price. I think the BD frames are the best deals around for the quality they offer.

I agree with above, either increase your price range a few hundred bucks or get steel.
Or else used.
I have both a steel frame AND a Habanero Ti, both are good but if you are going to be riding a lot you should just cough up the extra 300 bucks and get Ti.
If you choose new Ti you are probably best getting a Hab or BD. Maybe Lynskey has some leftovers on clearance you could check with them too.

Assuming here you've got the components, wheels, etc. already on-hand. If not, the $1595 BD Ti Rival subtracts-out to a sub $600 frame easily.

Cheap Ti frame
You are asking for the impossible. Used maybe, but I doubt it. Wait a little longer and save up the amount you will need to purchase something within reach. Other than that buy something else you can afford instead.
