Is riding a trainer hard on your wheels? After pounding an inexpensive set of Eastons last winter, I split the free hub body after the third spring ride. I am wondering, now that I actually have nice wheels, should I get a cheapy rear wheel to not hurt my hubs over the winter? Or was it a fluke and no worries?
I could have started a thread, but lost ambition five words in.

I have a trainer tire I swap in, but I wonder if its hard on the wheel itself. With it locked into a frame, does it put more load on the wheel itself? I broke the wheel hitting a hole in the road at a good clip, but I don't want to lose another if it was already harmed from a heavy training winter.

She is doing better, which surprises me because she had a rough night last night. Yesterday, we expected her to be in through the weekend, and now there is a good chance at coming home tomorrow. Only risk is that she is allergic to many meds, and they have to test something on her tomorrow to see if it works, which could throw a wrench into it.
Thanks for asking.

Just put some studded tires on one of your other bikes and ride outside in the snow. Duh.

An obvious solution. Don't know if you watch the local news, but the pedestrian hit last night was in the mouth of my development. I drove by immediately after, and thought it was one of my son's friends. Totally freaked out.

I'm just kidding about the riding in the snow thing. I switch to snowshoes in the winter and put the bike on the trainer.
