This stupid thread is starting to turn into a hybrid of P&R and "As the World Churns."

It's all PCAD's fault, of course.

there he is. I was concerned with all of the nice posts that someone had either hijacked his account or that he was back on his meds.

As a hobbiest woodworker, this gets a big fat thumbs up from me! :thumb:

Never change.

I'm going to service my trusty old 105 hubs this winter. Never done it myself before.

No we don't.

Early 1990s 1055.

his arm is bigger than my leg.

Arms like legs, and legs like people. At least a lot of the people in this thread.

Agreed. Can never have too many tools. Unfortunately my annual requests for a router and table saw are always turned down.
Maybe next year.

opossum have the lowest risk of rabies of any mammal. Raccoons on the other hand....

I looked that up when my female mini-schnauzer killed one who was eating the cat food.

finally, our first appreciable amount of snowfall.
the old people tottering around in the pick'n'save didn't seem too worried.

I am certain I linked you to the technical document outlining the procedure. But, it's OK. Nothing wrong with having a shop do some repairs either. A front hub bearing is integral to proper bike control.

This?

Apparently a bearing puller and bearing press are required. I've not heard of them.

It's on the rear wheel.

Rear wheel is a different story. Pullers and presses are a great addition to any toolbox, but not for everyone.

I have the same. Got caught in the rain in a series of rides over 10 years ago. I noticed my BB was loose (bought the bike from an unmechanical friend who thought he'd become a cyclist), so I decided to repack everything (hub, headset, BB) before any corrosion set in. Easy enough to do. Bearings are a standard size and should be easily attained at your local better bike shop or automotive supply if you need them (get Grade 25 or better). I used Phil Wood grease, but there are many effective and cheaper grease out there. Come to think of it, its about time I break the hubs open and take a look again. The wheels still spin nicely though. I had recently retired the BB due to a crank swap. The headset was replaced when I went threadless. Ironically, this bike has become my primary rain bike.

what sayeth the doctors in the room?

i had a mild fever last night that broke this morning, and a lingering sore throat and cough from a chest cold.
mr. ts is annoyed that i wont go out and shovel the driveway because "being outside in the cold doesn't make you sick, germs do".

should i feel bad for not doing it? (because i'm not doing it today, even if it all turns to ice, which wont happen if the forecast is correct and it's 36 tomorrow.)
