I think that several people called it months ago when Ms Solo "fell asleep," early the evening that she was to have the talk with her booty call.

I had a snowblower for a few months. It was such a pain in the ass I sold it and went back to paying Robbie, my plow dude.
I shovel the walks, deck, shed, etc. by hand. I like it. Good workout. My driveway is too big for a snowblower. Such is life on the vast Pcad Estate. |
You idiots can mock me for being fat, but while you all sit there by the fire eating friggin Xmas and Chanuka friggin bon bons (the Muslims are fasting, but cycling is blasphemy for them), I'm slowly losing weight and logging miles.
I'll hit 7K for 2012 in the next couple of days, all my time off the bike due to multiple health issues notwithstanding. Pcad rides. Every dog has his day boys. As the tag above my avatar clearly implies. Woof. |
We used to have a plow dude. He got to us too late in the day. Shoveled last year which was fine, since we hardly got any snow.

our driveway isn't really huge. you could maybe park 6-8 cars in it? depending on size. |
This represents about 1/3 of our driveway. And it's really wide, so the snowblowers can't throw the snow far enough. Needs plowing. Happily up here in lower bumfark, my guy only charges us $25 per plow. It's a no-brainer. I spend $100-$200 each winter on plowing. And he's always here by 7AM or earlier. It works.

My driveway is wider than that in spots and I use a snow blower. The trick is start in the center then go up and have the snow go the right when heading back towards the house, then to the right when heading towards the road. Yes, that's right, if you make it left when heading towards the road you will re-cover what you cleared. If it's 2" or less, I'll just shovel.
|
I do my own. I have a corner lot. So I also do the sidewalk that wraps halfway around the house, because my neighbors walk their dogs.

The odd thing is that @ 196, I really don't look fat. At 180 I start looking thin. At 175 I start looking quite thin. At 170 or less I look rather emaciated, as those photos from Greece I posted last week illustrate. I think that means I have a relatively big frame. Other guys my height (5'11") get down to 150. I get south of 165 and I look like walking death.

Mine's only 2 cars wide and 6 long. But the real problem is, because of where I'm positioned on a sweeping corner, I often get the street's width of snow piled onto the bottom of my driveway. It's gotta be someone's idea of a sick joke. Bastards.

No it's not. That photo doesn't show the real width at the wide part. It's huge. It's 2.5x that width. Trust me on this.
