true, but really that whole IP search thing is a bit of a pain in the ass.
oh and this thread has had enough drama and has eyes on it. going around the censor filter is only going to get folks grief as various mods pop in and out. best to refrain and let the asterisks do their thing.

I must've missed it. A few Addictions ago I mentioned the reckless abandon with which politics were being bandied about. No one seemed to care. All of the sudden BF cares. Just be consistent, mods.
This thread's mission statement was originally...jeez, who really remembers. I think it was about Pcad's weight, a Scott that he bought, dogs, Priuseseses and Apple Computer, amongst other things.
This thread is the fruitcake of BF - no one really wants it, but it keeps coming around and everyone comments on it.

everyone is entitled to their opinion. We try to allow people to express their opinions, but certain topics get really heated and then people go away and don't come back. That's why they are segregated into their own forum. Strangely, helmets is one subject that is strictly limited. The stuff that was removed from this thread belongs in the Politics and Religion forum. It's a balancing act between letting people say what they want in any way they want and keeping people that, strangely enough, just want to talk about bikes on a bike forum. I am one of those people that doesn't want to mix politics with fun, it really ruins a conversation when someone brings up politics.
really hard to be consistent without being dictatorial. And not only that, but it's a lot of work on an unpaid volunteer job. If you want us to be consistent, then you can report the occasional political post to help us out. The reason we care about this discussion is that there were tears on the playground

He must be exploiting neighborhood kids or something.
I called that months ago . . . that's when I stopped feeding it.
But that's just me.

As much as we bash the mods, I know they have a tough job to do and I would not want that job.
My biggest gripe, actually, is the stupid censor. I know it may be a necessary evil, but if I want to say a word I would like to.
If I want to say the word for shower in french, I would like to be able to.
If you want to know the word for shower in french, look it up. I can't say it without circumventing the effin' censor.

I blame Pcad, after all it is his thread.
He will probably blame Bush.

They let me get away with murder. I'll never understand that. It's like a license to be a BF version of Dick Cheney where the only editorial page in town is the WSJ.

That's because Dick Cheney actually makes more sense than you and you and Joe Biden combined, and Dick Cheney was loopy on bus fumes.
Either that, or you're the BF version of Daddy Longlegs. Big and scary as far as spiders go until you realize they are harmless to humans, after which it's like, "Oh look, another skinny spider."

I'll admit, my calculations to allow a bit of freedom amongst the regulars in this thread only during normal times, bit me in the ass. Even in the best of conditions, however, I'm convinced the gravity of the Newton tragedy rendered it almost impossible to NOT talk about. And of course discussing topics involving strongly held beliefs is bound to get out of hand, and so it did.
Moderating is a balancing act, derived from the term 'moderate'. I tried to do that with this thread so as not to promote a stifling atmosphere. I'm convinced it works in here most of the time. But I'm always ready to put a cap on things should outsiders or non-regulars be drawn in, which is the reason I went to a simple thread-naming naming convention, to not attract outsiders (non-regulars).
The Newton tragedy was so egregious as to become the exception to the norm. I admit I should have squashed it early on, but hindsight is always 20-20. Let's hope we all learned from the experience of a bad day, and may all hurt feelings smooth over with time.
Peace.
Now, I gotta run outta here . . . be back later.

At 160 they'd hospitalize me immediately. I've tried racing below 165 before, I get slower, I'm too weak. Ideal cycling weight for me is 166-170. I've been this heavy before. I gain weight very easily, have a helluva time losing it. All the weight is concentrated in my loins.
I couldn't find the article that stated genetically modified organisms (gmo's) causes weight gain. These are the most common:
1. Soy
2. Corn
3. Cottonseed (used in vegetable cooking oils)
4. Canola (canola oil)
5. Sugar from sugar beets
6. Hawaiian papaya
7. Some varieties of zucchini
8. Crookneck squash
