I have something similar. It sucks hardest in the morning and gets mostly better through the day. Everyone at the Christmas party I went to seems to have it. I thought it was just an extended hangover at first. I do not suppose the alcohol did anything to help my immune system resist it.

Still riding, but the impact is noticeable. How's the ankle (no pics please)?

Pics aren't very exciting anymore. It is still swollen some but all of the pretty colors are gone. I go back to the doc Monday for a follow up. Then Wednesday I get to go to the doc for an echo cardiograph. Woohoo!!!!

Anyone know where I can pick up an immune system?

I don't get colds hardly ever. Once a year maybe. Haven't had the flu in years. Maybe because as a kid I had the flu all the time and now I have good resistance.

I think we both know we are in denial and that we are hooked. We just don't know we're hooked. Denis Leary said it best: "It says may cause drowsiness. It should say 'Don't make any effing plans.'

Now they have ZzzQuil. Non-habit forming. Right. If it makes me sleep like NyQuil without the stigma of an OTC addict, I'll form the Hell outta that habit.

patentcad 12-29-12 10:25 AM

Just listen to Mr. Leary's Nyquil dissertation referenced by the link in post #5329. That's all you morons have to know.

That's how mine got kicked off a couple days ago. Scratchy throat, coughing and then it very quickly escalated in to a chills/fever. Getting better now, but two days of eating next to nothing takes a toll on your energy level. The cats, of course, have loved it - with me laying around all day, blazing hot, they've been snuggling up and treating me as their personal space heater.

Yeah she had 'em all put on CD by someone who got almost half of them in backwards. Musta been their first shot at slide scanning.

I just go get a big bowl of pho whenever I'm getting that sick feeling. Works like a charm.

I've had the same issue. But with a bad stomach having cars and dogs on top of you is not ideal. Now the stomach is a little better but fever still there.

garlic and ginger. lots of it. stop the cold dead in its tracks. just do it!

No way. Take a shower, then ride in the 30ºF weather with wet hair.

coasting 12-29-12 11:11 AM

Flu...don't go there!

I think I have a future in slogan writing.

Time for the annual ritual of starting a diet on 1 January. I want to kill myself.

I had to ride up Mt. Doom with a coating of snow on the road this AM. That means I have to keep my fat Pcad ass planted on the seat and crank 300-500 watts for the last half mile up the 17% sections. That always sucks. But if you get out of the saddle you lose traction immediately. I did make it.

Now the snow is socking in for the day. We'll get 6" no problem. By the time it's done there will be a foot of snow covering Orange County. We may not see the bike path again until March. That's how it was two years ago. They don't plow the bike path.

Buddy of mine said his started Thursday, said yesterday was the worst he has felt from being sick in years. I am not looking forward to that.

I just drove over to my parents' house to drop off some frozen peas. That took about all of the energy that I had. Back on the couch now, hanging with the pups, drinking Nyquil and waiting for the WVU bowl game to come on.

If you are drinking NyQuil, say goodnight to the bowl game.

Except when welding a slasher at my old workplace, I accidentally got the ring between the electrode and steel, and zapped a chunk out of the side of it... less than a couple of months after we got married.

I've been meaning to replace it, but haven't got around to it. Machka's is a round version, mine the squared off shape, and I think I like hers better. We'll do it one day, it's not as though they cost a fortune.

my friend did that too with his, although he was wiring something... either in his equipment (he's a music engineer) or on one of the motorbikes... i can't remember... and it blew a chunk off the side and burned around his finger so badly it blistered.

mr. ts and i have matching rounded ones. i like that it's really basic, but the squared ones are nice too. i wear my mom's wedding ring on my right hand. it's not very flashy either. it's more traditional but the stones are all small and low profile in a vintage setting and doesn't look like a wedding ring. a big glizty rock would never survive hanging off my hand.

RT 12-29-12 12:38 PM

I have three or four size 10-10.5 tungsten 12mm rings. Don't need 'em anymore. They were nice and heavy on my hand.

EDIT: Not all at once, mind you. Long story.
