Hence their huge commercial success. Far less engrossing, compelling, complex than Tolkien's LOTR, but clearly intended for a different audience. A better comparison is The Hobbit to the Potter books.

I like watching 'Game of Thrones', but I find the plot completely convoluted and impossible to follow. So I bought the first book, hoping it would be easier to follow. It's not. Threw in the towel after 100 pages. Too hard to fathom all the characters and plot lines. Good grief, I read this **** for fun, I don't want to have to study the stupid crap to follow the story line. Nothing annoys me more than a narrative that half the viewers or readers can't follow. If you don't communicate that as an author or film maker, you have failed pretty miserably in my view. You can always blame the viewers or the readers of course.

Billy must not be too thrilled right now.

Even had they won, I didn't see them advancing far. They've just been too inefficient all year long.

The hated redskins (ptooey!!) won't get much farther anyway. Scum!

In 7th grade, I was caught ditching school twice... to stay home and read LOTR. My mom was not amused, but I thought that it could have been worse.

Because it was intended for a younger audience does not mean it cannot also be an impressive (not easy) read for adults. Asserting your Tolkeinism is the act of an arrogant self-proclaimed intellectual. Hell, there's an entire section of the trilogy dedicated to elf songs. If that's not a dull read, I don't know what is.

Unless you speak elf, I guess.

Furnace install underway. It's 9° outside right now - let's see how cold it gets inside during the estimated 5-7 hour install time.

Isn't it best to use 3 or 4 space heaters to increase the fire risk tenfold?

Seriously, stay warm WhyFi. Maybe brunch and a movie or two while the job is going on.

Finished my half day of work, back home sick, doctors appointment at 3:00. Yippee!!!

I believe I have been sick more this year than I have been healthy. Hoping I can change that for 2013.

Guess I could have explained my point of view a bit better to avoid an assumption that's way off the mark (self-proclaimed intellectual). I read the Potter books as an adult. I found it impressive and very enjoyable.

So when is the house warming party, WhyFi?

If you're searching for a head coach with defensive coordinator qualifications, Lovie is your man.

As soon as I can get the house warm.

Awesome. Arguing about elves and dwarfs and fantasy lands. It really doesn't get much better.

sbxx1985 12-31-12 10:38 AM

Black Monday. The Bears are the most attractive destination. Not many pieces needed.

I bet Gruden interviews, Singletary for courtesy.

Having Tice calling the shots on O doesn't help. They couldn't get him out of MN (as a coach) fast enough for me.
