Us? We looked around for a fireworks show in the area where we are staying, and couldn't find one. So we'lll just see in the New Year sedately, likely posting here (how boring is that?).

You must not have read Potter. It is a darn good series of books. Doesn't have to mean it is better or worse than anything.

I read the first one and a half. Couldn't make it through #2. Not my bag. But apparently somebody likes them, Rowling's a friggin billionaire.

My kids LOVE this series. I personally think they are ok but nothing amazing. I still don't get why some of the schools in the South have them banned...

Potter was a great series of books meant for young readers. Its a great story and an easy read for adults. Last I checked, Tolkien wasn't writing children's books. A better comparison would be George Martin vs. Tolkien.
