I walked into a LBS today and was checking out the DI2 Ultegra version. The shop sales guy tells me that the biggest difference between Dura Ace and Ultrega DI2 is that Dura Ace has 10 trim settings on the front Dr. and Ultregra has 3. He said that Dura Ace also uses custom servos so the price will not come down much compared to Ultregra which uses off the shelf servos.

I would probably go with Ultregra just because of the $$$. Anyone have trim issues with Ultegra DI2?

I ran the original Dura Ace Di2 for over two years -- through all kinds of weather (including submerging the RD in flood water). I loved it. Nothing else compared.

But let me say that I did have one issue: Di2 is STRONG. It will shift under load, while climbing, no matter what. One time, a long, long time ago, I shifted under load while climbing out of the saddle on a 17% grade. The shift executed fine but the chain started making a repetitive noise. After I got home, I inspected the chain -- the Di2 shifter had bent one of the links of the chain in executing the shift. It happened once. And it wasn't a catastrophic failure.

I'm in the market for a bike now, and my next bike will have Di2. I won't consider anything else.

That's the only problem I had - totally operator error. I forgot which button to push to check the battery and I pushed the one on the box. Then I started shifting, which is the way you make the adjustment to the RD. Things got fouled up and I had to take it back to my LBS and it took him five minutes to get it back to normal. It's a great system. I much prefer it over the mechanical DA on my other bike.
