Hey, I've done 60km/h on pavement with my wife on the back, I can assure you that every nut and bolt is torqued to the manufacturer's specs. Maybe not as critical on a road bike with no suspension, and no disc brakes, but it's not a risk I'm willing to take. BTW, do you still use Look cleats?

Out of carbs. Need sleeeep. Must.... not... post .... any .... mooooore

I hope you meant the handbook, not my wife. She'd like me to mention that I cured her constipation that day too. On the subject of cleats, she completed her first ride with them, absolutely trouble free, and then forgot to unclip in the driveway. D'oh! Yeah, we have better things to do now too. You still coming this way Sunday? Street Festival on King St. Heaps of foot traffic, but should be nice for cyclists.

Me, I'm a child of 72, and I'm going to win the tour next year (oh, okay maybe the year after, I didn't buy my bike early enough). We're still whipper snappers. :D |
Y'all are just a bunch of kids. 1969 for me. Kids!

Hey Expat, I'm not riding up from Gosford tomorrow, but I'll be riding down from Maitland!! If you're keen for a ride I'll crooze through the Jesmond Park cycleway at about 7:30 tomorrow morning then onto Lambton Road and into town for a cuppa. Meet you at the lights on Croudace St if you're keen.
If you don't see a dork on a Gitane by 7:45 then it's probably because I've slept in/had a flat/been squashed. You can swear profusely and carry on without me! |

.... after slumming it around a few other forums, I notice. Have we offended one of our own? Also, I'm not a framebuilder, I'm the guy that tells the framebuilder what to do. I think the official title is 'smartarse', but I'm not sure. ALSO, I was busy this week, so didn't post as much on this or other forums. Actually I was busy admiring the massive bruise on my arse that Hitchy caused. It's a multi-coloured rainbow of delights. I should post a pic of it and take a poll of how many people lost their lunch while viewing it! |

They'd use it as inspiration to throw up before a ride and therefore gain another 0.00001 seconds on their next time trial. PS: I'd delete the bit about telling other guys what to do. Makes you sound like a theorist. And we know what hitchy (and 531 and rocky and others) think about them. PPS: Another Tasmanian victory -- Marcos A wins the touring car championship. No wonder you mainlanders ride bikes, you can't drive! :) PPPS: And I really am joking. Even about being right for the first time!!! |
Rowan, do you have, (or know anyone that does) a pair of clip-on type aero bars for cheap? I'd like to try some on our tandem. Thanks

Hey, I've seen your posts on other threads, but don't worry, your secret's safe with me. I'm just wondering how much faster we could go on the flats if I wasn't acting like a parachute. I think the bars on the tandem are about 20cm wider than the average road bars. Thanks.

Hey Expat, how far did we roll this morning? One of the great features of my Polar HRM is the AUTODELETE function. It erases any knowledge of you having done any form of riding if you leave it monitoring and it doesn't hear from the transmitter for more than 5 minutes.

Looks like 23.8k, Avg speed (shhh) 19.1k. That sounds about right to me, but I'd still like to know where it came up with the Max speed figure.
