Yeah, that's the one. If only they could eliminate all the w@nkers who want to take it seriously. :D

So what do you guys think of those Neuvation wheels? Sorry to interrupt your blather with actual shop talk. Wait, I don't need to apologise. Bugger ya! Now, about those wheels?

rockmuncher 12-05-04 04:57 PM

I've noticed a few posts on various forums relating to the spokes breaking, questioning load limitations, etc. but an equal number of posts saying that John Neuman is extremely approachable regarding any matter on his wheels (of course that may change should his products start selling in large quantities!).

The spoke breaking thing doesn't appear to be a kiss of death as his wheels can take a standard J spoke. From what I've seen it appears to be a batch based quality issue in the spoke manufacture as there are some users out there reporting no problems whatsoever.

He's made me a great deal on 5 sets of wheels. Now I've just got to get them here...

ROFLMAO. Just like a kid in a candy store, eh Expat?
Which model(s) did you get? I might be able to afford a set in February. Did you find out why his freight was so exxy? Is he using lead as his primary packing material?

Brian 12-05-04 05:56 PM

That was for the M28 Aero wheels. It all hinges on the USPS counter person have a bit of discretion regarding the box dimensions. I'll have to have someone check on that. His quote is based on DHL or some other carrier that charges by dimensional weight, which is really just cubic feet. Lead free packing. If it can be done, my price would be a bit less than his retail converted to AU$. It would probably work out to the same price (US$259) shipped to your door. Does that make sense, and are they worth it?

$259/3x4=$353 puts them in (retail) price bracket of Shimano 540's on sale in LBS. They weigh in at over 2kg (Nevo's are 1750g) and as far as I know aren't compatible with the new Ultegra 10s (Neuvo's are). As for whether they're worth it, well that would be a very subjective thing.

Brian 12-05-04 06:15 PM

I asked for a container price too. :D Did you see his seats at saddleco.com? Asked for prices on them too. What do you guys spend on seats?

Yeah, I asked her about it back when she was PM-ing me about my extra
user name (55-9 all day :D ) -- it's a gag; she has nothing to do with that site

531Aussie 12-05-04 08:19 PM

Good to have my fellow Mexicans back -- we got 'tooken' over by the hot-landers last week.

Brian 12-05-04 08:19 PM

It's a whole website devoted to native animal excrement. They're quite honest about it. The openly state that all their items are *****.

Brian 12-05-04 08:25 PM

Oh, you guys will get a great deal on those wheelsets as soon as I come up with US$19k. I will be ordering Shimano drivetrain components, so if anyone needs anything, just let me know. From 105 to Dura-Ace, or XT and XTR for you fat tire guys. There, that's all the work I'm doing for the day. Oh, PM or email me, don't need to take up space on the forum.

rockmuncher 12-05-04 08:30 PM

Stupid thread of the day: 'Cycling: What A Joke!!!'

Thylacine 12-05-04 08:35 PM

Those wheels don't look that special, and although they may be cheap, they have no reputation here, PLUS the freight would be a killer. I'd give them a miss if I was you. They'd be a tough sell.

wattsy_rules 12-05-04 08:54 PM

Thanks Hitchy and Ed for the bike sites.

Hey, anyone want to help me out and start the bidding. I won't hold you to it, but I have 15 people watching this auction and no one prepared to start.

Woo hoo! I'm winning! It's the least I could do to return the favor.

Dad - "Triton hey? What does he want for that thing?"
Son - "175"
Dad - "175? *pffffrrttt* Tell him he's dreamin' "
