Ta. Might have been jitter caused by the Polar crap on my bike, or high voltage lines somewhere. HRM's can pickup noise from other HRM's. I did 60.2 coming into Maitland and I don't recall going that fast on our cruise.

I noticed our pace going into town was much higher than the return trip. Maybe I need a dedicated skinny tire MTB. Or maybe I just need to ride more. I do like the idea of building another bike though. Slicks on the single speed? I need to find a cheap aero bar, or some clip-ons.

Hey badsac,
Did you say you got a price on the LeMond Chambery of $3700?
Because I saw it at bicyclestore.com.au going for $2999, which seems like a pretty good deal.

Hey Wattsy, that was a joke. Of course, if you actually want it, then go crazy. I won't hold you to it if you don't. Thanks

We built our tandem specifically for a return trip to NZ, as it's where my wife and I had our first date. I have a photo of her at Taupo with the big fish growing out of her head. We'll probably tour the south island next time. BTW, I prefer the '63 fuelie.

At least the big fish is a good deal more romantic than the big carrot at Ohakune, but not in the same league as the big pineapple and big banana in your new home.
The username is a bit more a reference to my age and part of my name than the car - I am the '62 Vette - flesh tone, definitely not in "cherry" condition any more.
I would love a '62 Corvette to go with the name sometime though. I wonder if I can swap a well used 2002 GT ZR 1.0 for one?

Is Ohakune on the S. Island? I think I got a shot of that too. Also a giant lobster and some clams or something. Are the trails around Rotorua as nice as I've read about? I meant to try the heli-biking on the South Island, but figured that wasn't the best idea as I was travelling alone in a caravan for the first 3 weeks.

Seems if you can't talk Italian bike frames, Beach Rd and other stuff... well, you're the lynchpin here.
By the way, heard today about how a bunch of your mainlander roadie mates came down here to do our Ash Dash "just to top off training for the start of the season". Apparently there's a video of the guys with their double chains rings and 20T big cogs doing big zig-zags to struggle to the top of Kaoota, then puking their guts up at the top. Sounds like a hoot.
Anyway, glad your baby is reasonably OK. Like the ebay auction plan for the der.

I think Ohakune's in the middle of the north island not far from Mt Ruapehu.

Sorry to hear about the damage, Hitchy. Man, how disposable are todays bikes?
Anyway, my damage is healing okay. Went for two rides this week just to see how I feel. Actually had to go a bit hard on Friday, coz I felt pretty good....plus there was this guy on a carbon Trek with Cosmic Carbons I just had to shaddow just to give him an inferiority complex.......you know how it is......

Anyone want exclusive wheel distibution rights? I got this back from an enquiry on neuvation wheels. He might be open to offers.
For information on the wheels please go to www.neuvationcycling.com Pretty much everything is there. Unfortunately, it costs too much money to send
wheels (normally $US 300) per set. I hope to have an Australian distributor
soon.
Thanks, John Neugent

Bikes: how long have you got?
Oi wattsy,
try here.......
https://www.probikekit.com/
you can get the Conti attack/force combo for around $100AUD in your letterbox....normally around $170 retail...guys are even bidding around $120 AUD on ebay for them!.....duh!........I still reckon if we submit those piccys to Jenny Craig they could use them as the 'before' shots!........of course managing to get some 'after' shots where we look skinnier might be a challenge....photoshop anyone?

Rotorua (aka Roto Vegas) is MTB mecca in NZ. The 2005 (or is it 2006?) Worlds are being held there which is quite a coup. Apart from regular tourism, I think mountain bikers provide a huge boost to the local economy keeping cafes and motels busy most weekends.
