You boys are quiet today.

BTW - Jolt gum has arrived, if anyone's interested.

Climbo and I didn't leave until 5:00am

We didn't see you out there either :D

Perfect run down from Hornsby climbo. Much speed, no red lights, just the right amount of traffic. It was a shame to have to warm down for the last bit! Toasted a BSB at Turramurra, that felt bloody marvellous. He had no right to be out where only real riders dare :)

Oooh! He better watch out! For the amusement of some folks on an Advocacy & Safety thread, I posted this vintage (circa 1980) newspaper clipping of a rider without helmet. See it here

Is the gum related to Jolt cola in any way? I've been told that drinking 3 of those in half an hour makes speed look tame.

Aside: HTF did we end up with a yank and a scot infultrating the ranks?

You guys are keen with the 0500 starts. As per Muchies advice, I'm building up to it..!

Anyone going to Adcock for the track night on Wed? Still havnt sourced a track bike but might pop down and put a face to a name?

It was borderline on being too dark without decent lights. It was still dark when we hit the Somersby industrial area, but there was just enough light by the time we headed down toward Mooney Creek. Still, we didn't set any land speed records. Bit moist underfoot as well.

I'm going over for a chook at about 7:00 (when things really get going).
I think climbo sed he'd be racing.

Yup, same company!

I left my place just after 4pm and went down to Mordy and back, 68km round trip - I kept a lookout for ya. Man, there were some fast lads out there last night. Spent way too much time on the way back hovering around 40km/h. Feel a bit wrecked this morning.

Monday's Lesson : Never underestimate guys on touring bikes. They're just a sneaky disguise for fast guys.

BSB ?

Return leg to Gossy was good, almost collected a wallaby on the descent down from Peats Ridge. First time ever down Kariong hill, hit 75 k's at the bottom stretch.

I'll be at Adcock tomorrow, hopefully the thunderstorms hold off and we get some racing. CD scratch championships are supposed to be on. Should make for better racing/more excitement than usual.

Bike shop boy

I hope you warned him off with your bell! :)

Kariong is a wierd little hill. It looks faster than it is. There's a section in the middle where it looks downhill, but it flattens out, and you can lose plenty of speed. Fastest i've been at the bottom is a tad over 90

yeah, pedalling downhill sucks, wish it was steeper !!

pshaw 01-17-05 06:57 PM

90 on that hill is quick... I max'd out at 79Kph.

Anyone timed themselves up the hill? Lights to lights?

Thylacine 01-17-05 07:02 PM

I seem to have trouble cracking 80kph down any hill. What am I missing here? I'm sure I was quicker down hills 10 years ago....the extra weight now should be an advantage !*heh*

I have, but its a pointless exercise judging from my speed vs climbo! :(

9:40 is my best time. 8:30 is a reasonable time. I'll let you know when I reach that. climbo looks like he's doing low nines just warming up

10:30 is my best to date!
My little newbie legs dont know what hills are! Where have all those easy MTB spinning gears gone?

climbo 01-17-05 08:23 PM

If I had to guess, 9-10 minutes, I guess we'll have to get the stopwatch out next week. We need to go quicker anyway :), I missed my train this morning, didn't get to work until 10am.

I took the granny ring off my MTB to keep me honest.
