Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As I recall, all the Reservoir Dogs got killed. You haven't done any diamond heists, have you? And by "bull", do you mean a fat ass like some of us? 'Cept for Hitchy, he keeps his girlish figure by screwing sheep.

Question from the peanut gallery: What is the difference between a criterium and a kermesse? Is it just the length of the circuit?

Yes. the "old" definition of a criterium was a lap was < 1km, but this has been abandoned. The word "criterium" is the french word for event, so it really just means "race", eg. Criterium International.

A kermesse ( or kermis) is a Flandrian event, with laps of up to 10+ km. The word comes form "kerk" the Flemish word for church, coz the town church uised to be the hub of the event and a fair would be set up on the grounds and a bit of a town party would ensue. Kerkmis became kermis. the French version is kermesse.

Anyone notice that Carnegie has started referring to the Sandown criteriums as "kermesses"?

Now the bike shop boys can REALLY pretend they're in the big time

Wank factor.

It's not a kermesse unless your suffering in the gutter in the 13 cog in a roaring crosswind with a 1000m section of cobbles every lap.....and it's about to start sleeting.

Climbo might not have a clue about that one: The commentators at the track racing don't seem to know what climbo's name is (being new and all), so they just call him Darth Vader because he wears all black.

"...and with 1 lap to go it's Darth Vader at the front...."

White takes the win, Robbie 2nd (and leader in pts)

Oooh nice, even brownsugar would approve.
