The Aussie Thread
Hey fellas.
Couple of things -
1) Just wondering how many Aussies are on this board. Is it just me, 531 and Hitchy? Anyone else, put ya hand up. I'm getting into the road thing a bit more these days, and although I'm still fat and slow, I'm always up for a social ride ( weather permitting ). E-mail me if ya keen for a tootle around Beach Rd or whatever ( Melbourne ).
2) Whats the deal with the Aussie TdF contingent? Looks like we lost more guys through accidents, sickness, and exclusions. Tough break for us. What's going on there?
3) Anyone read anything recently on the quest to organise an Australian pro cycling team? I heard Pat Jonkers was keen, but was having trouble drumming up corporate support or some such. After Euskatel Euskadi's performance yesterday, I'm sure we could atleast outdo the Spaniards!

Sh1t yeah! An all Aussie team has to be sponsored by a beer company!
One vote - Cascade Brewery.
Okay, I'm off for a ride......then a cleansing ale after.

At the very least, a team such as what you're describing should be half sponsored by Fosters and the other half from that company that produces the kangaroo meat. Then if they decide to to the Cooke Chronicles or something along those lines, they can get P.J. Hogan in to produce the show.
Whatdaya think about that idea?

You forgot to throw in a "by crikey"
I dunno who's more of an "ocker", him or Robbie McKewan -- although McKewan now says he's half Belgian

Sarah Ulmer (track, NZL) is sponsored by the big McD....ugghhh.! How about a Australasia team eh? Throw in Julian Dean, Gordon McCauley (TT champ) and a few others...J Yates (U23 world champ and wicked climber)...others I cant think of.

Another aussie here, I don't think that there is anyone else from Canberra on here. I agree Robbie is a bit of an ocker, but listening to any of the aussies after listenling to Paul Sherwin and Phil Ligget for a while makes them all sound more ocker than they are.

I'm Tasmanian I suppose that close enough
and I don't live far from the Cascade brewery
so they get my vote to.

An aussie here (Queenslander!!!!), just not in Oz at the moment. Been out of the country for more than 2 years, and look set to be gone for at least another 3, maybe more. Denver for the moment, but in a couple of years will look to a move to Ireland (probably Dublin) to study the effects of Guinness on cycling ability
.
I've never heard a seppo get even close to saying "g'day" properly...

Maybe if we could make anything but totally crap TV it might get shown in the US, then our accent would be imbedded in the heads of all their kids, just like the Septic's accent is stuck in our heads, all thanks to Arthur Fonzarelli

Lucky for you guys, that writers strike you had all those years ago killed the show he was in (The Highway Man..?), or he still might be on your TV
He says he once saw the lead actor of the show, who was apparently very religious, reading the bible during a break in filming, and Jacko said: "don't bother reading it, mate, I read the last page; the Devil done it."
Or is that just some tired old gag?

I remember watching the Paul Hogan show on UK tv in the 80s way before the Crocodile Dundee films came out. Then again, I remember Hugo Weaving donning a dress way before he donned dark glasses or pointy ears.
