Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

PCad,

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your father. I know that words are not much comfort but they are all I have to offer other than my prayers, which will be said your father and your family.

i moved two of the cats today. it broke my heart to leave abby behind, because i still think it's mean to not only break up the band, but he's gone most of the week. i'm tempted to go back and get her too.

then sophie made the saddest, weirdest noises i've ever heard come out of her on the drive over. now she's wandering around aimlessly meowing at everything, while lola already settled in on top of the back cushions of the sofa.

Thanks for all the condolences.

You think you're ready for this after a prolonged illness, where you knew it was coming. But you're not. It will take some time to comprehend this loss.

...when my 90 something year old mother died a couple of years ago, I managed to hold myself together right up through the trip back to D.C with the ashes and the funeral
for all the relatives there around Arlington. Then I was pretty much good for nothing for about six months. Not that I'm all that much good normally, but I mean just useless.
