Stem broke in half while riding

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So, do what you think is right but glad you were not hurt and Profile covered you so well on replacements!
Totally agree, and I did accept their offer since they were so responsive and I do need the parts . Wish all companies and manufacturers treat their customers like them.

But the main issue is to prevent this from happening to someone else, that's why I did send the broken stem, and the new case photos too, so they can study them and decide if a warning or recall is needed, or if it was just an isolated incident.

Indeed. More likely said mechanic overtorqued it. It could also have been damaged in a fall. Regardless, aluminum needs to be inspected for cracks once in a while and discarded at any sign of fatigue.

Actually he was right. As you can see in my latest posts, the problem was due to corrosion caused by sweat and hydration.

Looks like improper prep before they painted and not sticking to the metal well at that area

But that's just raw conjecture. Who knows the reality. Profile is just guessing too, until they see the part in detail.

I have a thomson masterpiece seatpost with large holes eaten into it from galvanic corrosion. It was installed in a carbon frame with minimal grease or carbon paste.

I only run carbon seatposts in my carbon bikes after this.
